Most established denominations are an 'excepted' or 'exempted' charity so there's no need to register with Charity Commissioners. Individual parishes/congregations may register, but they don't have to in order to enjoy charitable status like exemption from corporation tax etc. But they are still subject to charity laws and have to produce an account ('Financial Statement') each year to the parent body (diocese, conference, synod etc). Independent church or Christian group not part of a large denomination probably has to register individually. To OT: sorry I had a SpeedTouch modem but have sold on ebay. If you don't get one donated, try bidding there - most go for £25-£30. Alec |

"Charities" don't need donations as they have wealthy sources of income. Alan ( If replying by mail, please note that all "sardines" are canned. There is also a password autoresponder but, unless this a very old message, a "tuna" will swim right through. ) |
