Depends wht level of service you require - cheapest is not always best.
Check www.adslguide.org for comparison table

can i connect a broadband modem to a telephone extension?

Using wires only you can have the ADSL anywhere on the telephone system
using filters at each phone outlet (including sky boxes)

You usually get one or two with your ADSL modem these tend to be very poor
quality, there are loads of suppliers.

Personally I use the ones from www.adslnation.co.uk they are, in my opinion
the best available but also quite expensive - about 8.99 each.

you need one for every phone outlet

Strictly you don't need a filter for the ADSL modem, though filters are often
built into splitter adaptors that provide outputs for both ADSL modems and
standard phone equipment. In this case, the ADSL output is connected straight
through without any filtering. If you only want to connect your ADSL modem
(i.e. no phone) to a particular extension outlet, you can plug it straight in.
Filters vary in price from a few quid upwards, depending on where you buy them.

Rod.
