Default Newsgroup Abuse

A newsgroup has been specially set up for the purpose of allowing members
of the many UK newsgroups suffering from an extremely abusive form of
trolling, to discuss the problem, exchange information and hopefully
achieve a permanent solution.

You are invited to join the group providing you do so with a valid and
traceable email address. Please note that a throw away address is not
acceptable.

The group has already made considerable progress since it was formed, but
your ideas and help would be most welcome.

Is this a joke?

Are you not able to rise above it and/or make good use of your
filters/killfiles? Or better yet, ignore it completely like most
mature adults would?

Perhaps you should get out more?

Would everyone please note that this bozo crossposted this to a load of
newsgroups and purposefully set the follow-up to demon.local only. The
intent is to get people who don't check where they're posting to click
on Reply and post dross there.

I seem to recall a similar post (not sure whether it's by the same guy)
about 6 months ago in this group. He was shot down then as well.

And isn't one of the conditions of joining the group that you mustn't
use a disposable address? Yet, the invitation to join comes from a
hotmail address!

No, I think that the intention of the original poster was to bring the yahoo
group to the attention of everyone in various newsgroups (ones which have
been spammed pretty heavily recently by a couple of half-witted trolls).

In addition, he clearly *didn't* want the thread hi-jacked (by those same
half-witted trolls, no doubt), leading to yet more cross-posted spam, so he
limited the reply field to one group (the most heavily abused, I gather).

IMO it is entirely appropriate to limit the groups that the thread replies
to so as to reduce noise across Usenet. Any lengthy discussion on the
merits of the topic rightly belongs in the yahoo group he was telling us all
about!

[reply-to field trimmed so that *I'm* not spamming this across half of
Usenet]

Richard

You seem to know a lot about how the original poster thinks. Funny that.

Oh, the sheer hypocrisy.

Ah yes, the "permanent solution". The term "Net-NAZI" springs to
mind.

Great minds think alike, John. Wot a plonker "Kevin G" is!

I wonder if "Kevin G" and his merry band of idiots have considered
virtual yellow stars as a first step in their "solution"?

I would prefer it if "Kevin G" and his band of merry ****heads considered
suicide as their ultimate "solution."
