Default sync loss

For over a year my connection has been fine, but just the other day my modem
has lost sync every 5 mins and re-sync after about 30 sec. after much
searching i thought it was caused by the on board network card, so i
disabled this and the connection lasted about 30 mins. then right back to
the 5 min connection problem again.

the network card is part of the motherboard and i have disabled this in the
bios but the adsl modem still does the sync loss after 5 mins.

thanks for any help.
Gavin

The first thing to try is unplugging all your telephones, skybox etc so the
modem is the only thing connected to your telephone line and see if the
problem goes away.

Do you have the Power off the USB port to Auto-Turn Off to conserve Power?
This could be the case.

To check - go to Device Manager, expand USB Controllers, right-click, select
properties on your USB device and go to the Power Tab. Untick the Save Power
on USB port. That might help!

Aha! it's USB. That means that some of the work the ADSL modem should be
doing is being done by your computer, so it could be something in the
configuration of your computer, or some other device attached to it taking
resources. Have you installed any software or hardware recently? You might
be able to find the problem by looking here rather than at what's plugged
into the wall, but the best solution is to throw the USB device in the bin
and get a proper ethernet-connected modem/router.

I was going to say that but resisted as no one ever listens to me any more,
sniff sniff...
