Default Heads up Plusnet UPDATE : Early JUNE and still no service....

Being totally cynical, I would suggest that she temporarily gives up
with Plusnet, signs up for ADSL with BT who will then magically send out
an ADSL engineer in no time at all who will get it working. Then as
early as possible move back to Plusnet.

No disrespect, but why would anyone running any sort of business give
out an email addrss which is tied to an ISP? Not only does it look
unprofessional (e.g. ...) you tend to up up in the
situation you are now e.g. you can't switch providers.

There have been people on alt.internet.providers.bt... who have
hinted that however much they dislike the service, "too many have
this e-mail address" for them to want to move. I had a very small
number of ISP-linked mail addresses (which I later came to regret
using, especially when one was swallowed up by a bigger ISP) but
have had domains for several years (and some are paid up to 2012
for good measure, with exchange rate in our favour), so it beats
me, too, unless the domain was tied in with the a/c in some way
(Claranet does an account for 29.99 a year, inc VAT, where they
register a domain and do hosting + mail + news too, but at least
that's a standalone account, aimed at BT Broadband users). PGM

Even more daft are those firms who advertise

Web:
www.thisfirm.com
Email:

If they can be bothered to go to the trouble of buying a domain name,
creating a website and publishing it, why not go the extra little step of
handling email @thisfirm.com ?

Zane.
