On the other hand people who need uncapped connections are the heavy users.
Up till now the heavy few were subsidised by the many more 'lite' customers.
So as we move gradually back towards a PAYU charging basis - at least the
(now unsubsidised) price has not increased!

Don't think anyone *CAN* do much!

adslguide says that, under BT's capacity charging scheme, the speed of the line
does not count for that much. For unlimited - presumably - it still does!!!

Not yet. As in the article - it will be tomorrow though. Take it as a
heads up, and consider migration / regrading if appropriate ;o)

Any they are still persisting with the 70/58 setup and charging for
modems, while most others are not...

I used to recommend Plusnet, as they were a decent ISP (they still are)
at the best price, but at the moment, I cannot recommend them, knowing
that Pipex and the like are offing better value for money.

They've had a few technical hitches over the past 6 months but all
seems good again now. Like many others, I assume, I kept faith with
them because of their support and communications which are the best I
have come across. But I'll be switching to their new lower priced 2Mbps
offering: hope they don't mind... ;-)

Last time I looked 39.99 was the going rate for an uncapped 1MBit connection.
PlusNet are now charging 29.99 - not much more than some SPs charge for 1
512Kbit connection.

I have just regraded to the 1MBit uncapped service.

I don't actually *need* an uncapped connection - I don't do much downloading -
but neither do I want to buy a crippled product.
