Default Connection Keeps Dropping - Please Help!

....and can someone please suggest the cheapest router that will do the
job? i've already got an 8-port HP network hub (i think its a hub, it
might be a switch) so i guess i`ll only need a 1-port router.

I`m not that hot on networking myself, but i`m guessing a hub will simply
broadcast the traffic to all the machines connected to it...

Perhaps one of the more clued-up guys can give us an idea whether this
sort of setup might have trouble passing data to the correct machine, or
how it`ll handle multiple machines trying to use the same app at once
(ie. IE)

As for kit, if you`re not looking for anything "exotic" like plug`n`pray
capability (which might in itself be dangerous) or specific protocols
used by things like netmeeting for file transfers, a bog-standard adsl
modem/router should do the trick... something like...

www.ebuyer.co.uk

Quickfind code: 48448 Model : ASR-8000 (1 port adsl modem/router) 26
Quickfind code: 48449 Model : ASR-8400 (4 port "" "" "" "" "" "") 30

(+VAT)

There are other adsl modems with ethernet, but the cheapest was more
expensive than the ones listed above.

There are plenty more models available but the price seems to jump to
about 40+

Nope, it'll work fine. The machines know what to do with the data.
I've got two halves of my network running through seperate hubs and
nothings gone wonky.
Hubs are fine for small networks, a switch is only required in larger
installations.

They'd do, apparently they're not bad considering.
