Default SNR revisited

A few days ago I asked for advice about SNR levels in view of the
problems I was having with continual disconnects, and the SNR
readings varying up and down like a yo-yo!.

Anyway, following advice given on this ng, I replaced my original
BT socket with a new master faceplate (NTE-2005) and ran a new
wire from that to my modem/router. The connection now seems to be
stable (no loss of signal/disconnects for over two days) with a
fairly constant SNR level of around 30db, and minimal CRC errors.

Thanks to Alec, Kráftéé and others who contributed.
