Default Tiscali - Only can connect when phone line is engaged too

Hi

Anyone able to offer a suggestion here?

My cousin just got Tiscali broadband.

Had lots of problems with other phones connected at other sockets but
finally got to testing with just the pc/phone connected via 1 filter and
nothing else plugged in.

After lots of hassle I discovered she can only connect to the Tiscali
server while the voice line is active too (on an incoming or outgoing
call)
As soon as the receiver goes down, the data line disconnects too.

This is with just the modem/phone connected via the same filter/socket
and no other equip connected elsewhere, so there's nothing else to
interfere

Anyone got a clue please?

Thanks

Bob

line fault - high resistance. The voice call puts current on the line
that helps overcome the bad connection / near break in the cable.

Report it to the ISP (oh dear, never mind) to get BT to look at it. If
there are voice symptoms (crackle, faint etc) call it in as a vocie
fault on 151 or via ww.bt.com

try it in the test socket at the back of the master
http://www.clarity.it/telecoms/adsl_faceplate.htm#part3 just in case
its related to extension wiring.

Tiscali - dialup speeds at Broadband prices.
AOL - the unlimited ISP of choice for heavy downloaders.
