Default ADSL and telephone extensions.

ADSL/Telephone master socket in lounge but need to move PC into dining
room, plus phone into dining room plus an extension into a bedroom
upstairs. Whats the best way to set this up as regards filters etc?

Thanks

The default way would be to install proper hard-wired extension sockets in
the dining room and bedroom, to use a filter/splitter in the dining room
with the phone and ADSL kit plugged into the appropriate outlets, and to use
filters in any other sockets (lounge, bedroom) where phones or other
analogue equipment (fax machines etc.) is plugged in.

A technically superior solution would be to fit a Clarity modifed faceplate
http://www.clarity.it/telecoms/adsl_faceplate.htm in the master socket -
with separate analogue and digital extensions wired into the back of it. You
would need both a normal phone extension socket and an RJ11 socket (for your
ADSL modem or router) in the dining room - but you could feed both from a
single 3-pair cable - with 2 pairs for the phone and one pair for the
digital connection. This will give more reliable operation - particularly as
ADSL speeds continue to rise.
