Default Netgear DG834G - Date and time problem

My netgear DG834G v2 router had started to become unstable and as a
result i had to reset it by using the reset button on the rear of the
router. Stability is now back but i have noticed that both the date
and time is incorrect, the year is showing 2002.

Does anyone know how i can get it to show the correct time date and
year please especially for the purpose of the router logs.

Thanks in advance

du.

Don't know if you have ever noticed but the log dates are always out by one
month forward.

As for setting the time I guess it's hard coded into the router or maybe the
server that it uses is down, If it were me and it did not correct its self I
would re-flash the firmware either to the same current one or the latest
available,

Not much help I know but good luck.

Ah, thereby hangs a tale, as the headline "Netgear Flaw Triggers DoS
Attack Against University of Wisconsin" from a couple of years back
would show. Let's hope they've all been fixed by now.

interesting read
muppet eng hard coded the time server to an ip
and set silly parameters to check it (like once a second and such)

effected models are old now anyway, firmware updates would fix it
since no one bothers to update firmware, it's a product lifetime problem

Thanks for the replies. I have now sorted the problem this morning by
upgrading to the latest firmware, i did try to put the same firmware
version back on that was on it when i bought it but it never worked. I
would also like to point out that the router was on for several hours
after the reset but it never should the correct date and time the
firmware upgrade was the only soloution.
