| are you running Windows XP on the laptop? if so are you using the XP software? I found that using the windows XP built in Wireless networking software that it would drop the conection when i was right next to the AP, if there is ne software for the Wnic i would use that, since i started using the software for my compaq IEE802.1b Wnic ive never been dropped (unless i walk out of range of course), my connnection has been stable as anything -- DSL504 ---- DES1005D --- WAP11v22 (Dlink DWL-900AP+ hack) -- DWL900+ (Bridge) -- DES1005D "keith r." wrote in message ... I have recently set up a wireless network with a netgear ma101 usb adaptor on my laptop downstairs being served by my netgear router upstairs. for no aparent reason the laptop drops the wireless link and doesn't even see the wireless network. Now i am very new to the whole networking scene, so it might be something obvious to the experts, but it has me stumped. I've checked all the cables etc and everything looks fine so i'm not sure if i have to set something up i.e software. sorry if this post is vague but i'm not very techie with comp equip. Any help would be greatly appreciated. keith r |
