| Hi Lurch Sorry about the delay, have been rather busy. Tried typing in share name \\adrian\c64 and this brought up the printer queue. I was then able to clean the print heads from the laptop. I therefore re-setup the printer using the share name and it still won't print a test page!!!!! Does this help at all. I do hope so!!!! Cheers "Lurch" wrote in message ... The other factor that comes into play is that I have Norton Internet Security. However I have disabled this so it shouldn't be interfering??!! Shouldn't be a problem, but if it's disabled it's not that then. The drivers are definitely OK because they work on the PC that is attached to the printer. That's another one crossed off the list! Is it right that the laptop is configuring the printer on a USB port even though it is across the network?? Sometimes. My shared printer, attached to another machines LPT1, shows in the properties box on this machine as being attached to LPT1. If it was directly attached to the network it would have an IP address as the port name. What is the default name of the printer on the laptop. It should be the full network path of the machine. Something like printer name on shared pc name. If you type the PCs share name in the format \\share name in the run box does the printer appear in the box that appears? I can't see why it doesn't work, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong so far. -- SJW A.C.S. Ltd. |

How do I tell which driver it is using over the network v the driver it is using if the printer is directly connected?? If you go to start-settings-printers and right click on the printer then select properties from the menu and navigate your way to the advanced tab you can find out which driver it is using and also change it from there. Thanks for all your help by the way!!! Not a problem, glad I'm been of some assistance. -- SJW A.C.S. Ltd. |
