Thanks for the link Mick, I'd already used that site to configure my trunk
and it registers and works fine except, I have to dial all my local numbers
as 00441698XXXXXX

Its a wee bit more complicated than my pap2 dial plan below
(00x.|01:00441x.|02:00442x.|05:00445x.|:004 41698[2-8]xxxxx|0[346789]:0000x.)

Are you using [email protected] or vanilla Asterisk?

If the former, I have created three outbound routes, all pointing to
Sipdiscount trunk:

International Route, dial pattern: "00."
Local Route, dial pattern: "[2-9]XXXXX"
National Route, dial pattern: "0|."
(All without the quotes.)

On the sipdiscount trunk, under dial rules:
00441274+XXXXXX
0044+XXXXXXXXXX

Subsitute 1274 with your STD, etc.

Shouldn't that be
"0[1-3|."

Otherwise it will route 0800 numbers, mobiles, personal number as well a
national calls.

If they were the only three routes, possibly, although what you suggest
would strip the first two digits before dialling. (How would the trunk
know which two to add back?) I have other routes that deal with other
special numbers. Such as:

Set as a higher priority than the national route is
BT Route Dial Pattern:
100
1471
192
999
0800.
0808.
0845.
0870.
118XXX
1280.

And Mobile dial pattern:
07.

UK mobiles should be 07[789], not 07, I think.

I've barred non-mobile (personal) numbers on the trunk itself.

The advantage of using 07. (I find) is that if I want a local or
national call to go via my premicell, for whatever reason, people here
find it quite easy to cope with prefixing the call with 07.
