Default Compatibility issue?

I'm currently have a 2mb connection and am considering moving to an
"upto 8mb" service.

I just check on samknows and go the results as detailed below.

Can anoyne advise on what the "compatibility issue" part is all about?

TIA,

Chegs.

================

"BT ADSL broadband availability

ADSL is available in your area
Your exchange is also enabled for ADSL Max services

According to BT Wholesale, your line should be able to support a
3.5Mbps or greater ADSL connection via ADSL Max.

You are approximately 662 metres from the exchange (straight line
distance).

There appears to a compatibility issue with your phone line. This could
be caused by an existing DSL connection, ISDN, a DACS unit, TPON, a
pending ADSL order or many other common issues. This will need to be
resolved before ADSL can be supplied to your line."

Exactly what it says! If you have an existing DSL connection then it has to
be removed before the new service is implemented. Unless you are changing
via the MAC code system there will be a delay whilst the old connection is
ceased and the new pone connected.

Oh! Right, I got a bit perplexed with all the detail. Thanks for your
reply.

the Samknows site is reporting the data it gets from BT.

The incompatible product means you already have ADSL on the line, as the
checker is coded in such a way as to be slanted towards checking for new
installs. It detects any product which might mean a new install isn't
possible, so an existing one qualifies.

In other words ignore the bloody thing.
