Captive market. Hotdog stall bleats about rip-off
broadband and then charges 5 a dog and 2 for a can of
coke.

Well, if people are prepared to pay it.....!

Personally I always take sandwiches ;-)

Exactly. Businesses are obviously prepared to pay 80 a day for broadband.

The trick with these trade shows is to register as a member of the press. This
takes some persuasion (but if you've done it before, having a pile of old press
badges with your name on usually makes up for the lack of actual business cards
that you have mysteriously 'just run out' of). Be prepared to be buried under
an avalanche of junk mail though...

Once you have your press badge, you get entry into the press lounge, which
usually has free coffee, biscuits, and orange juice on tap; All of the best
handouts and freebies, and of course, you can leave the show and re-enter at any
time without problems, availing yourself of the somewhat cheaper lunch
facilities in the area.

Also, you can pull your friends into the press lounge, should they also be
visiting the show, for "interviews", and they can take advantage too.

In extreme cases, you might even get whisked off by limousine to a london hotel,
given lunch and free beer, just for listening to some presentation for ten minutes.
