Default Noise margin logging

Hi All

Anyone know of a program/utility that will log modem stats (esp. downstream
noise margin). It's a Linksys WAG200G.

My margin normally sits at 12dB, but over the past two days at about 22:15
this drops down to 0dB, then the Linksys reconnects a few minutes later back
at 9 rising to 12. Everytime I can be bothered to look during the day it's
at 12.
Ta.

Get a Vigor router and use its syslog facility.

Whilst that may be a good move, I have a WAG200G that was provided free
(borrowed).

PRTG traffic grapher will do it if your modem supports OID codes. Take a
look here

I use Paessler's "PRTG Traffic grapher" for continual monitoring of SNR
margin and sync speed. It is an excellent SNMP (Simple Network
Management Protocol) monitor. Freeware for a small number of monitored
devices. See www.paessler.com/prtg.

My router is a Draytek, so I can't give you a detailed how to, but
Linksys supports SNMP AFAIK. The catch is that "Simple" protocol is
nothing of the sort. It's brain damage trying to get it going, but
there's loads of help around if you Google for it.
