Default Connection problem

I Wonder if anyone here has any ideas why I have been unable to connect
to the SABRE website for the last few weeks.

http://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/

I have tried three different computers (two different OS and two
different firewalls), three routers and all behave the same.

PING fails and TRACEROUTE gets to the last hop before the site.

I have found no one else having any problems including plenty on the same ISP.

But a dial-up connection through my same ISP works OK.

pings and traceroutes fine from here (on plusnet) one hop on the trace
doesn't respond, but that's not so unusual

Have you tried changing MTU settings on router and/or PC(s)?

yes. drop to 1400 MTU on the PC. Never mind the router.

This gets you past almost all layers as just about anything can handle a
1400 byte packet.

I had to change the MTU last year because I could not connect to a range
of sites using the Belkin router but the others were OK. It seems
strange that three PCs and three routers should all start having
problems but no one else seems to be affected.

The router is 1400

I can't remember what the PC was changed to but will check again later
(just trying to find where I put the utility to do so).

Not so strange if you happened to use the same tweaking tool (DrTCP by
any chance?) to change all the PCs and they ended up at a size that is
upsetting some picky web sites or intervening routers.

It can be any router or switch (including BTS frame relay backhaul) in
the chain between you and target that is failing to do packet reassembly
correctly.

Fairly sure that I only changed the main PC (my laptop), I don't think I
bothered doing the laptop and the third one is a Vista PC virtually
"straight out of the box".

I will be putting some credit on my mobile broadband dongle next week
ready for a trip so will see what happens using that network and will
also be using some friends' broadband connections.
