I suppose the obvious question is what is your friend paying for? Is it only
2Mb?

Yes that is the question I ask them myself, they do not know!
They are new to the internet and do not understand these things, I only
tried the speed test as from the click on the IE icon it took ages, well
seemed so, for home page to appear on it. Then slow to show other sites.
They have got a package of TV, Phone and BB I know it is reduced price for 2
months, they will have gone for probable cheapest offer and I doubt they
will go for expensive TV package.

They have not seen how fast my BB would have done the above with my 12.5 Mb
on copper from Be.

First time I have come across cable in use, what surprised me was the
supplied Router is not in use the installer did not, it is still in the box.

Regards
David

If they are paying for more than 2Mb and there is a problem atm they
can still ask for help in:

Yes it does.

".ntl, Telewest and Virgin.net have come together to form Virgin Media.
..£15 per month for up to 10Mb (200x speed) unlimited Broadband L
- special offer for first 3 months (usually £20 per month)
- Online exclusive - 3 months free when ordered with a Virgin phone package
..£25 per month for up to 20Mb (400x speed) unlimited Broadband XL
- special offer for first 3 months (usually £30 per month)
- from only £10 a month + free installation when ordered with a Virgin
phone package
..£33 per month for up to 50Mb (1000x speed) unlimited Broadband XXL
- special offer for first 3 months (usually £38 per month)
- from only £18 a month + free installation when ordered with a Virgin
phone package
- includes wireless N router and PC adaptor
..Special Virgin bundle offer
£14 a month for up to 10Mb unlimited broadband + TV Size: M + Phone Size: M
- Virgin phone line required (£11 a month)"

I know of course they could as they have it, I assume it is that special
package at the end they will be on.
What as surprised me is that VM cable which I think uses fiber is the same
as all us on copper with the "UP TO" business.

Regards
David

As TV is part of their package they are in a "cable" not the
Virgin.net (adsl) area of VM. If the speed test you carried out is
typical of the speeds they are getting they should get in touch with
VM support, either 150 by phone or the support group I mentioned
earlier in the thread
