This is not a forum as such. You are posting on the forum at
www.broadbandbanter.com but broadbandbanter.com is only a web-style
interface to Usenet, an internet discussion system that was invented
before the World Wide Web.

Personally I think Broadbandbanter and all such web interfaces to Usenet
should be closed down and if people want to use Usenet properly, you
should use a proper Usenet news client.

But surely Usenet *is* a forum, in the sense of "a public meeting place
for open discussion" (M-W).

Usenet is one of a large number of NNTP message groups. If you want
you could describe each of the 143,232 (last snapshot) groups as a
forum but not the whole Usenet

Probably more of a forum in the true sense than is the typical (usually
moderated) web-forum.
However, web-forums (fora?) seem to have hi-jacked the word in internet
terms.

It's probably worth mentioning that if you killfile any articles
containing "news.newsgroupbanter.com" in Path:, you won't have to see
them anymore.
