Default Random nuisance phone calls, Caller ID showing 0121314xxxx

I was woken up at 02:27 this morning by the phone ringing about three
times. The Caller ID showed 01213140003

There are many, many calls like this happening, see for example
http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/01213140001
seeming to originate from the whole number range.

A couple of the firms that own the numbers have posted responses:
http://www.bridgehouselaw.com/index.php
http://www.wesolveit.co.uk/

They claim that the caller ID is being "spoofed". WeSolveIT refers
to http://www.telappliant.com/, who offer VoIP solutions, including
a mention of Asterisk.

I know only too well (from experience at a previous place of employment)
how easy it is to hack and abuse an Asterisk server.

I also see mention that the above block of phone numbers is associated
with Sipgate.

Anyone here that can shed any more light on this?
