Default How popular are the various ISPs.?

Prompted by the Sky shill who claimed that loads of people are connected
to sky.

They may be, but they don't access my sites.

Stripping out the specialist interest addresses from companies and
government organisations and the search engines from all over the world,
my site has the following total hits to the main web pages (i.e. I count
a page as a hit, but not te images and so on in it)

Sky is frankly nowhere.27 hits compared with nearly 10,000 from BT ADSL
sites

(Note unless sky is rebranded from something else)

Note also that some lookups are truncated or slightly different versions
so there are a few loners that belong in groups and NTL/Virgin cable by
dint of labelling every cable block IP range with its location, appear
as any smaller entries.

there is a reason for that..I didn't strip out the 'special interest
special users' from the later dump. and the house of commons is a NAT
proxy that ALL the house of commons goes through.

The real comparison is between UK domestic ISPs. Sky and apparently
Easynet are nothing like 50%.

Now that may be because Sky customers dont spend any time browsing the
web and are a bunch of thick chavs in social housing but then again, it
may not.

The fact remains that Sky/Easynet are not anything like a major doemstic
player.

Its hotmail or whatever Microsofts brand is, and BT retail.

And is Microsoft/Hotmail actually an ISP?
Surely they're just an email provider for people who don't want to use
their ISP's email service?
(Similar to Yahoo and Gmail)

In addition without any knowledge of the specialist nature (or otherwise!)
of your website the figures are again meaningless.

Attempting to extrapolate ISP popularity from hits on a unknown website
would seem to be an excerise in dazzlingly bad statistics!

MSN? Is that even still available as an ISP in the UK?

of UK ISP popularity.
Almost 600 hits from the Houses of Parliament, against 328 from
Talk Talk !

there is a reason for that..I didn't strip out the 'special interest
special users' from the later dump. and the house of commons is a NAT
proxy that ALL the house of commons goes through.

Your site could be a crock of ****. How many are repeat hits? How many are
page counts, not separate people hitting your site.

Heard all this 'my site is great' ******** before.
