In Edinburgh on a 60mbps connection, but connected through an ancient
firewall/router that can't cope with modern speeds then a VM Superhub in
modem-only mode, I'm seeing min=13mS max=15mS avg=14mS.

I'm not sure it has much to do with the line speed - but more to do with
your equipment, and how it's connected.

My line speed is only 3.9M down and 780k up.

On my PC - connected to my router by an ethernet cable - I get 9 or 10 ms

On my Nexus-10 Android tablet - connected wirelessly - I get between 20
and 30 ms.

I'm on Virgin 30Mb cable and get an average of 8mS for both .com
and .co.uk (which are two different IP addresses.

I am running a VM Superhub in modem mode into a Tenda router
followed by a Cisco 1Gb 8-port switch - all wired.

So much for fibre?

On FTTC in Edinburgh I get around 19ms. traceroute shows that 12-13ms
of that is to my ISP. On a real internet connection at work, it's
7ms, which fits.

A lot more than two. Each of them returns several addresses from a
DNS lookup, and different sets on different lookups, perhaps partly
depending on where the request comes from. There may well be no
difference between .co.uk and .com, they may just return entries from
a common pool.

Plusnet 64/20 FTTC.

That's better than I expected, when I first got FTTC 12 was as low as I
saw - maybe I have less interleaving now.
