Netgear DG834G wireless question by Tim Howarth
I've just bought a DG834G v2 and am pondering exchanging it as faulty. I'm having rouble with the wireless side of things, if I change settings via the web interface and/or reboot the unit, wireless networking disappears. The box reckons all is well but my clients can no longer see the wireless network. Unplugging the power cable and reinserting does not make it reapear but if unplugged and...

Hallo, I have received my new Netgear DG834GT ASDL modem/route yesterday. I have not done the setup for the Internet and router functions yet – I'm waiting for the telephone company to activate my ASDL line. I want to do the wireless setup, but when I select the wireless setup link, I get only a blank page. I have connected via Internet explorer to the default IP address and I have used the...

Unable to connect one PC to network by Nel
My brother has NTL 2MB broadband and is linked to 2 PC's (both running XP) via a D-Link 604 router. One of the PC's is used by our nieces & nephews for homework/games etc and didn't have adequate AV installed. When I discovered this, I did a quick check of Task Manager and found all sorts of Ad-ware running. I ran Ad-Aware which caused the Remote Call Procedure countdown to begin, indicating a...

VNC via VPN by Geoff Lane
I want to set up VNC to work via a remote ADSL that has a VPN connection. No luck so far although both computers will connect using VNC when actually on the same network. Am I correct in assuming that once a VPN connection is made that effectively it is as though they are on the same local network and that routers should not be a problem.

Recommendation for Wireless-G access point with WPA encryption by Martin Underwood
My parents have an ADSL router and want to add a Wireless-G access point for use with a new laptop that has a built-in wireless adaptor. At a quick glance on the Dabs site, all the APs that I can see only support WEP encryption and not WPA. Can anyone suggest an inexpensive AP that supports Wireless-G and WPA encryption. It must be a separate access point because the access point needs to...

Explorer slow with network drive by mark
I have just built a server, when using explorer to browse a drive it is really really slow, folders take ages to open and list contents. I get white screens etc etc... However, when I browse the same drive on the same server using and "open" dialog from within a program, everything runs along just fine. What exactly is causing explorer to run like a snail?

Internet Gateway device created in Network Connections when I removed Internet Connection Sharing by Martin Underwood
I had ICS enabled on a dial-up connection to share it over my network until I got broadband. Now that the router has arrived (though my line hasn't yet been broadbanded), I've removed ICS from the dial-up connection. But I notice that having done that, an entry Internet Connection in a group Internet Gateway has appeared in the Network Connections window. It shows as permanently "Connected"...
