| | Netgear DG834G working with wireless bridge? by
Bonge Boo!
I have a feeling I might have screwed up here, but maybe not.
I was working on a Netgear DG834G wireless ADSL router and a Netear WG602 v3
wireless access point.
Both have the latest firmwares installed. Both are running on the same
channel. The have different SSIDs.
I thought I would simply have to go into the WG602, switch on Wireless
point-to-point bridge mode, enter the MAC address of the...

| | Problem pinging wireless PC on my network by
Aiden
Hi There,
I hope I'm in the right group for this.
I have recently addded my brothers PC to my wireless LAN, but I cant seem to
get his machine to answer ping requests. I need to go round there and check
the settings again, but before I do, which of the following settings are
likely to result in his computer not answering a ping request?
1. Wrong subnetmask

newsbenny2@spampot.com
I currently have a fixed wired installation at home. The broadband
comes via a cable modem which is attached to a NAT router which then
carries connections to various rooms in the house. There are a couple
of Windows desktop machines and a Linux web/file/mail server connected
at all times. I've configured the NAT router so that only the web &
mailservers are open to the outside world.
The...

Go to Network Connection, right drag "Local Area Connection" (it's
normally called) to desktop, create shortcut.

I no longer use a software firewall (OutPost) and the router is leaky
and doesn't stop errant programs from connecting to the net. I
sometimes want to block these for a short time.

the drives in windows 2000 are shared automatically - the share name
is drive$
so for example your computer is called xyz then C: would be xyz\c$

Can someone who is up on networking tell me what the subnet is and what its
for?
My netgear DG834G has a subnet of 255.255.255.0 at present and I have been
advised by a friend recently that I should set the subnet to 255.255.255.253
as this will make the network more sucure as there will only be three
addresses available on the subnet.
What is the subnet, and is there any good reason to...

Hi All
Sorry once again for being in the wrong NG, but the advice here is always
the best, wonder if anyone can help with this.
Searched my computer for a shared file I had misplaced, typed "shared" into,
search for files and folders, it came up with over 600 .css files, mostly in
my daughters temp internet file.
I regularly get rid of cookies and temp files, so how did these files remain...

| | Laptop WiFi Problem. Wired NIC works - WiFi does not any ideas please? by
DeeBee
Just had a mate on the phone and has the following problem.
His partneer has a nice new HP NC4000 and they have put a W400 Mini PCI WiFi
card into it.
He is using a BT Voyager 2000 modem router on TalTalk
He also has an old Tosh laptop with a 54g PCMCIA card in it and that works
fine in WiFi with the router so all appears well there.

If I boot without it plugged in it works perfectly until I plug in then
instanly freezes.
The router is a 3com officeconnect and the nic is a admtek 983b all was well
