| | Strange IP routing (?) by
Anton G˙sen
I've posted this to the NDO user forum but I might as well post it here
as well.........
Please help me understand what is going on as I am going to lose sleep
if I don't get an explaination to this!
OK, I have a network in my home, as I'm sure lots of other people
reading this do. Fair enough. Nothing special. There are only 2 or 3
computers on the network, using the 192.168.0.x IP address...

| | Remote access and dynamic IP by
Periproct
First off, I'm very much the newbie to all this but.....
I'd like to get access to my PC remotely but have dynamic IP. I understand
there are utilities that will upload your IP address to a web site whenever
it changes. From my limited knowledge this could either be my web site space
given to me by my provider or to a site that specifically provides this
service. The 'own web site' method has...

gbnews
Hi guys,
I've only dealt with ADSL lines. A friend is getting NTL Broadband
installed in the next couple of days. What do NTL provide? is it just a
cable modem that has a ethernet port to plug in to a NIC in Laptop/PC?
If so, with regards of making it Wireless enabled, I just need to get a
Wireless enabled router and a wireless card.
Then the cable modem ethernet out goes in to the...

Hi,
Friend has just got BT wireless kit from BT with a Plusnet connection.
I set the laptop up in advance with WPA-PSK access using PKIP (?)- all
works a treat. The desktop with the BT card (the wireless uses a
Internal Toshiba system), we can see the WAP but can't connect to it -
that is, it would connect, but suddenly dropped out and now can't get
an IP address.) Any items to try before I...

| | Netgear DG834G & eBay? by
Paul D.Smith
Anyone seen the following? I search http://www.eBay.co.uk, select an item,
IE window goes blank and IE thinks it is downloading. ZoneAlarm and Netgear
modem flash for a while (so downloading) but then stop. Nothing coming in
but IE "world" still spinning (so it thinks it's downloading) and no item
displayed!
Refresh doesn't seem to help either!
Thoughts?

| | DHCP server and multiple access points query by
Ken
Hi,
Can anyone answer the following:
If I run three wireless access points on a LAN and enable DHCP on just one
of them, will this allow all the access points to assign IP addresses using
DHCP?
Thanks.

| | flood/bulk network cabling by
T.
This is for a home installation with network points in rooms.
What sort is recommended? It'll be done under floor boards etc. as that
is all currently already up.
Cat6 and Sheilded cable?
I won't be doing any of the installing myself (the electrician will),
but just need to buy the bulk cabling and network sockets that screw on
the wall.

I have just bought a Belkin ADSL wireless router. It's brand new out of the
box and 'reset'.
I can't log in to the 192.168.x.x page to configure it. Windows is stopping
me.
I have a Windows XP Pro/SP2 machine with all the latest updates and am using
Norton Firewall etc. It was doing a fine job of accessing my previous wired
router/adsl modem via a LAN cable and accessing a Belkin...

| | Network connection with proxy server - further question by
Martin Underwood
A customer has proposed the network configuration
http://fp.martinunderwood.f9.co.uk/network%20-%20original.gif
Rob Morley has confirmed that it should work, but I want to check exactly
how I should configure the equipment.
Let's assume that the "wireless ethernet hub" is a bog-standard ADSL
wireless router - Dlink DSL-G604T, for example.
