Steve
Hi Folks
I`m new to networking but have managed to setup a wireless system with
my Laptop running XP home with a Buffalo 54g pcmcia card and my desktop
running XP pro with a Buffalo 54g usb dongle. My question is how to get
the maximum connecting speeds which seem to default to 11Mb even when
sited next to each other?.
The manuals arn`t much help and state even higher speeds should be...

I've just been trying to set up a wireless network: a router (belkin
7630, IP the default 192.168.2.1), and two XP clients, addresses set by
dhcp: EA1 (192.168.2.2; actually a wired connection) and EA2
(192.168.2.3; wireless). The router would normally have an adsl uplink,
but this isn't connected yet; EA1 has an existing dial-up internet link,
which I'm not interested in sharing with the...

| | REQ: ADSL Install Help / Pointers by
[news]
as a long term cable user I'm unsure of what I need to install ADSL for my
80 year old mum. I'm assuming a wires only option would be least expensive
and I've yet to decide on the ISP but I'm looking a this basic, cheap n cheerful
single port ADSL modem / NAT router firewall combo.

I'll probably get a splitter from the same source, but what else...

| | Belkin F5D7630-4A ADSL Modem with Wireless Router - problems by
David Wright
Hello,
I have successfully set my Belkin F5D7630-4A up to connect to the Internet
(I am using it now!), completely wirelessly using the Belkin F5D6050 802.11b
USB Wireless Adaptor.
The problem I have is, whilst it all works fine using the default settings
and the unencrypted default SSID of belkin54g, as soon as I change the
security mode to 64-bit WEP and set the key, I can still...

| | Range and reliable connection of home wireless LAN by
Chunky
Bit of an old chestnut, I know.
My wireless LAN (details below) has been moved to new location in a
very old (and thick walled) house.
All the stuff downstairs is fine, my squeezebox, laptop, PDA and
desktop all talk to the router well through a couple of internal walls.
Upstairs is a different story and I am having trouble with my gaming PC
which is hidden away in an extension built on the...

| | Best wireless network for the uninitiated ? by
Mike Day
Hi,
I want to set up a wireless network to connect my PC in my ground floor
study (which will have the ADSL router connected to it) with my 2 kids pcs
in their bedrooms on the first floor. The line of sight between the study
and the bedrooms is approx 10 meters and passes through a 11 inch cavity
wall and 2 stud partition walls. I have looked at numerous reviews of
numerous products but...

| | HELP! Newbie and Linksys wireless gateway by

I have bought a Linksys wireless gateway (WAG54G) router/modem and have
successfully set up wireless broadband sharing between my 2 computers - 1
desktop and 1 laptop.
My desktop PC has a Linksys WMP54G wireless card installed and the laptop
has in-built wireless functionality (g). The internet sharing is fault
free.
My problem is this - I have not yet set up encription/security measures...

| | Active Perl Overflow by
spamfrog
Since installing the router ( D-link DSL-G604T ) my Norton Firewall has
reported no attacks, apart from this one.
Active perl overflow from IP 0.0.0.0
I think it's something to do with the router rather than an outside
attacker, anyone else had it ?
this ?

Hey,
I have got my Linksys Wireless Broadband Router (with SpeedBoost ^_^) to
work in wired form, but it seems to be in self denial about its wireless
capabilities.
I have enabled SSID broadcasting, but it neither picks up the default ID
when I reset it, or my old configured one with all the same settings
from when it was working before.

| | TightVNC on an Origo Router - aaargh...... by
Steve O
Hi Group.
I've had an easy time setting up TightVNC on a Netgear Router that I
installed for a friend.
A doddle from start to finish. Just like it said on the tin.
However, now I have to do the same on an Origo Router, (An 8400 I think).
Different gravy I'm afraid.
It's got the same rather amateur looking admin interface as all of those

TA
When I log in to my router which is a Draytek Vigo 2600Gi (Wireless
ADSL/ISDN router - I am using ISDN) - it asks for username and password in
the usual fashion. I don't use a username but have a password set ( I
presume it is more secure for having a password?). There is a tick box for
remembering password. I tick this, but the next time I go in it hasn't
remembered it. Is there a way of...
