http://Blackbox - simple but... by Flemming L. Baerentsen
Hi all, I hope that some of you have ideas regarding this issue. I would like to add a device to my local network (lets call it "Blackbox"). I have the possibility to edit the software in the Blackbox. I have one "simple" demand to Blackbox: It must always be possible to enter http://Blackbox in a browser on every PC in the local network and then the internal webpage of the Blackbox must be

Wireless theft - how easy is it? by /Tx2
Whilst I appreciate that picking up an insecure wireless signal, and 'piggybacking' off it for Internet access is not difficult, how difficult is it to then steal data off the host network? Let's assume the user is a complete novice, has simply plugged a router in, configured it using vendor software, and is now surfing. He (or she) has no knowledge of how to really configure Windows, as...

Newbie question on routers. by John
For reasons that I won't go into, I have to run our 3 PC's at home on the wireless side of a Netgear DG834GT router. I am trying to do port forwarding on the router with no success. Is this because it's only possible to port forward using the wired Ethernet port on the router? Regards, John.

Windows Home Server or Windows Server (2008 or 2003)..? by Simon Coupland
I have been running a Win2003 server at home, using Active Directory and roaming profiles to manage approx 6 PCs. Mainly it's for fun, but it does a good job of allowing the family to log on to any PC and get their files etc. I now want to increase the functionality to server media files to a PS3 and soon a Media Centre PC. I've been looking at Microsoft's Windows Home Server and wondered if it...

Windows - Mac, networking help by mark@localhost.com
I've just installed Leopard and my network seems to have gotten messed up, mainly on the Windows side. I have 2 machines, 1 mac, 1 pc. Both have wireless and are connected to a router(192.168.1.1) where they access the internet. As well as this they are connected directly to each other via ethernet so I can transfer files at ethernet speed. The router is way over in another room.

Need to adapt old system (and brain) to broadband by Angus Rodgers
My ISP (Orange, was Wanadoo, was Freeserve) is closing its AnyTime dial-up service in December. I don't want to stay with Orange on broadband, so I'll have to move to another broadband ISP, sooner than I was planning. (I'd have been happy to stay on dial-up for another year or so.) I have two homebuilt desktops: an Intel PIII (which someone else sold me as a barebones) and an AMD Athlon XP...

How to launch an application on remote pc with Radmin? by He Not Be In He Not, He Be Out He Be
Is it possible to launch a program or batch file on a remote pc (using Radmin) from a telnet session? If not, is there another way to do this in radmin 2.0 without starting a remote desktop (full control) session? I want the application to run on the remote PC not the local one.... The reason I ask is because I want to trigger/start a pop up message box (like the net send command) that will...

I have 2 network cards, one wireless and one wired. I also have a network drive that is wired into a router. I want to use the wireless for all network and internet activities except accessing the network drive for which I want to use the wired connection. Closure of NTP server bear.zoo.bt.co.uk by John Sager
bear.zoo.bt.co.uk (132.146.236.132) will close down at the end of 2007, as I shall no longer be in a position to maintain it. Please use alternative UK servers. The most appropriate is probably uk.pool.ntp.org, or for resilience, {0,1,2,3}.uk.pool.ntp.org John Sager

Livebox problems- confused! by Simon Paddon.com
Hi folks. I have just swapped from my old Netgear to a livebox, inspired by the 'Max' ackage. I have a network of 3 pc's and a imac- all worked fine before. Now they all connect to the network fine; just my sons pc will not connect to the internet through the livbox. It is on the network, I can see it from the other computers, and see them through it. It just will not connect to the net-...

Extending BT Business Hub by Nowhere
The standard BT Business HUb has just 4 fixed ethernet ports BT say that if I want more fixed connections they could supply and configure a 2nd Hub However by simply connecting multi port switch to the hub and taking PC's from there as well I have more connection options Can I presume that this is OK provided I dont overload the traffic too much

Comodo Firewall Blocking Remote Admin (Radmin) by Geoff
Hi, I recently installed Comodo firewall on a PC that was running Remote Admin, but despite having set up Comodo to allow Radmin complete access, radmin fails to answer incoming connection requests. As soon as the firewall is turned off then Radmin works fine and allows all connections. Does anyone knw what I might be doing wrong? Im not new to firewalls, but I am new to Comodo Firewall. Can...

Networking XP and 2K via ethernet and wifi by Doki
I've got a Netgear DG834 router, which has both ethernet and wifi. I've also got a couple of XP machines connecting via wifi, and one 2k machine connecting to it by ethernet. I can occasionally see the other computers from each other, but it's not reliable, nor can I access the shared printer on the 2k machine. Am I trying to do something that's impossible or is there something I need to...
