THe NuTTeR
Depends who you believe
Officially, 802.11g devices will run at full speed with 802.11b devices
on the WLAN because the official standard says so...... BUT (and its a
big but) many many vendors released "11g" products before 11g was
officially ratified.
If you buy from someone big who will have made sure their devices now
comply, you'll be lucky.
but if you buy from a small shop with low...

| | Edimax router - MSN audio problem by
Len Cuff
Has anyone successfully managed to get an Edimax 6104K router to work
with MSN audio connections? Webcam works fine but I can't get the
audio to connect. I know the set up is OK on my PC because when I
replace the router with a Belkin, it works fine but the Belkin keeps
locking up, hence the replacement!!
The Edimax has UPnp enabled but it just won't play!!
TIA

I have got a Belkin router and wireless card (both 54g)
all is up and running smoothly (thank God)
But the only thing now is, I cant get my Flash FXP to upload...even when I
disable the routers firewall.
I noticed that my pc's ip address has change, which i think is because i'm
behind the router 192.168...... , but if i give that ip to my firend who
wants to download a file from me, he cant...

Have one PC on an ISDN line and two more connected by crossover cable.
Want to network all three and be ready with wireless for adding a laptop
in
the future. NO BBand yet but remain hopeful.
Is there any (wireless) router that will provide the ISDN and be ready for
ADSL?

| | My Linksys WAG54G nightmare! by
Andy Pandy
Bought one of these from ebuyer to replace my ageing (and problematic in
some areas) Solwise SAR715PW (802.11b) - bought 2 WUSB54G adapters (USB
802.11g) with it as well.
Main reason was to experience 802.11g speeds and hopefully get out of the
sometimes annoying problems I'd been getting with the 802.11b Solwise
modem/router.
My, what a nightmare!

other machines on the network, but the settings seem to...

A.Black
Having just connected to broadband recently I was disappointed with
the speed that I could access the Internet. Sometimes it was not much
quicker than a 56k modem. Not really sure what the problem was until I
unconnected my phone from the mircofilter and for some reason the
access speeds to the Internet were greatly improved.
Problem being now that I have to disconnect my phone if I...

Usual sort of Newbie question.
What I've got is a newly installed Easynet Business Broadband solution which
gives me a Lucent Cellpipe 20A-GX-UK ADSL modem/router which has just one
ethernet port which is directly connected into a desktop PC. Works fine and
as it is paid for by a company, I can't mess around with it.
Now I want to set up a network to allow a (Centrino) laptop to share...

| | VPN Server behind a D-Link 504? by
James
Hi,
Trying to get someone to set this up (don't have access myself which makes
it hard!) and when I connect, I just get a timeout on verifying username and
password.
I'm wondering if, looking at the manual for the 504, the router is
forwarding TCP port 47 rather than protocol 47 (I believe there is a
difference)... is this likely and if so, can it be got around?
Thanks
James
