Linksys Cable/DSL Router by Stoneskin
Setting up my home net I bought a Linksys router (BEFSR81 v2) to connect my PCs with my cable internet. But when I plug my home PC into it the connection will keep dropping and reconnecting. Running a continuous ping to the router from the PC I can see it will reply sometimes but not others. I've checked the cabling, my PC's IP settings to no avail. Connecting the router to other network...

100Mbit PCMCIA NIC only running at 10Mbits, please help! by Dave Williams
Hi everyone I have a 100Mbit PCMCIA NIC in my laptop which will only run at 10% capacity even though the PC at the other end is definitely 100Mbit and has run at 100Mbit in the past. The PCMCIA bus is a Texas Instruments PCI-1225 CardBus Controller which according to the TI website has: 'Pipelined Architecture Allows Greater Than 130-MBps Throughput From CardBus-to-PCI and From...

Book or Website for Network beginner by Vince
I'm about half-way through setting up a wireless 802.11g network in the house and have long passed boyond my bounds of ignorance with regard to networks, dsns, dsls, IP addresses, etc. etc. Could anyone recommend books or web sites that give a decent beginner's guide to (domestic) networks, what all these settings mean, which ones you need, securing access and things like how to set your PC up...

Firewalls by Vince
I have two XP PCs. The main one is wired to a wireless router in turn wired to a DSL modem. One other one is linked via a wireless PCI card. Everything is working fine. Both PCs have Norton firewalls installed, with filters that permit access to 198.162.1.* and 0.* addresses.

Wireless ADSL router by Scooby Doo
I need recommendations for a wireless broadband router. Won't really be using the LAN features so only require 802.11b as this is sufficient for broadband use, unless of course the 802.11g is reasonably priced. The features I can think of must include: ADSL modem 4 port switch Router WAP

Belkin Wireless DSL question by RCE Defiant
I am thinking of getting one of these but am wondering how my DSL connection connects using this. I currently have a USB Alcatel modem that plugs into my PC. Would the Alcatel plug into the DSL router or does the router connect to the net for me? -- RCE Defiant

How many people can use ICS under WinXP? by dirtycow
Hi All, I have two PC's networked together, mine running ICS connected to 600K broadband. Were about to get another PC and want to connect this to the net too. Ideally, I want to do this via bluetooth - i.e. connect the new PC and my PC (the internet host) via bluetooth dongles - is this feasible? Has anyone done it? The second question is, will all three PC's be able to use the net at the same...

Wirelsss Router Problems USRxx8054 by Tony Coyle
My USR808054 keeps dropping the wireless connection... Happening at least every second day. I have configured WEP (128 bit) & enabled MAC Access filtering (limited to my laptop & desktop) and I'm running in G mode only. However... the only way I can recover the device is to do a hard reset...which takes me back to a wide-open network mode. NOt an ideal situation.

Vigor 2600 by Geoff Lane
Help !!!! Just bought a Vigor 2600 Router as I enjoy flashing lights and bells etc. Totally baffled by the Firewall set up, I thought that by default it would deny all unless related. This is how I have my simple Linux IP Tables set up. Anyone familiar with the set up of these devices?

Centrino and Belkin 802.11b and encryption by Jay
I have a small wlan setup with a Belkin WAP, a laptop with a Belkin PC card and a new laptop with a Centrino in it. When I set WEP encryption to 64 bits all works well. When I set WEP to 128 bits and type the key into the Centrino it fails to connect. The PC card works seamlessly. Machines are within 5 feet of the WAP so I am confident the range isn't an issue :) Is there a known...

Linksys 802.11g Network Router by Vince
Networks... They're worse than printers to troubleshoot! Having (apparently) successfully connected the router to this PC (running XP home), I can share the Internet connection with my other PC (also running XP home) but not my PC resources. Both PCs have matching set ups, as far as I can see. The other PC can ping this one but not vice versa. The other PC has a wireless PCI card which I can...

flame: Netgear MA111 USB by net
to those who may be considering purchasing this item for a wireless network connection, my experience is it's a piece of junk. Spend a bit more and get a PCI card/PCMCIA card combo, it will cause you less aggro in the wrong run. I've just spent 10 hours trying to get this thing to work on a Win98 PC - finally got it to work, but the software always causes lockup whenever the software is shut...
