I think Robert understates this. There's no "probably" about it -- you
WILL get the blame. A good...

| | Compatible wireless PCI to go with DG834GT? by
Ed
Just starting to plan a small home wireless network...
Based on personal experience, could anyone recommend a sound, reliable
wireless PCI adaptor that I can install in a PC to be used both under
Windows 98SE and GNU/Linux Ubuntu 6.06.
I also need this to work with the all-in-one Netgear DG834GT wireless
modem/router.
I was thinking of going with the Netgear WG311 wireless network card.

| | Totally wireless or combined wired/wireless network? by
Ed
Completely noo to all this and looking for advice.
I am currently thinking of setting up a totally wireless home network
centered around the Netgear DG834GT all-in-one modem/router/WAP/switch
to connect 2 PCs, a laptop and wireless printer/scanner.
But if the wireless connectivity should fail, say, in one of the PCs
(e.g a faulty wireless PCI adaptor), then I guess I could slot in a...

I was asked a while ago to sort out a 'friend of a friend's' wireless
network. Yesterday, I finally got round round to it.
They had a new Belkin Wireless ADSL router and the original TalkTalk one
which they had given up trying to get working themselves. After
eliminating one after another...

| | Can I connect a wired ethernet cable to my wireless PCI? by
Ed
My question is this: If I install a wireless PCI adaptor into my PC
now, will I be able to use the same card to make a wired ethernet
connection to my wireless modem/router. i.e can a wireless card be used
in non-wireless mode?
TIA,

I have a W2K desktop system with a Netgear DGB34G router. Connected

problems.
The Vista laptop keeps asking for an updated printer driver,...

| | Wireless Upgrade advice by
KerplunKuK
I have a DG834G V2 and it only covers part of my house.
I am looking to upgrade, so wondered what would be the best option?
1. Fit something like this
http://www.wirelesspro.co.uk/products/ANT-24-OM-9-DUCK/ to the existing
setup.
2. Upgrade to the DG834PN and use the MIMO system with new adaptors. (£69.99
for router and adaptor, £28.50 PCMIA card)
3. Upgrade to the DG834N and have to fork out...

| | Download speed query - wireless link by
Andrew Sayers
Hi
I've recently set up broadband for my mother, and I'm a bit unsure about the download
speed she's getting.
She's with Newnet, on their 1gig a month for a tenner option - fine for her and no
throttling afaik.
Her router, a Netgear Rangemax 108mbps wireless, is syncing at 2816kbps, so I'd have
expected a d/l speed of around 1800 kbps. She's only getting around 950 kbps

| | Gigabit to several 10/100 switchs? by
Graham Sims
Hi,
Can anyone please help me, if I have a server with a gigabit card in it, and
this then connects to several 10/100 switchs that are daisy chained,
therefore limiting the network to 100meg, if I put in a gigabit switch
between
the server and the other 10/100 switches, then
ran cables from that to each of the10/100 switchs, would I get 100meg on
each switch or would it still be limited to...

Hi all,
I have 2 laptops and a desktop which I use to connect to the internet
wirelessly via a wireless router. The 2 laptops connect and work
perfectly.
The desktop wirelessly connects, works fine, but then randomly after a
few hours although it still SAYS it is connected and an IPCONFIG still
shows the correct IP info, I cannot ping the machine, and the machine
cannot ping the router/other 2...

..COM, .ORG, .NET, ... - How about .WS for WebSite or Western Samoa (tiny

They had to convince an entire nation to trust them on what appeared to be
an idea. It would be difficult, at best. The date was set for Mike and Alan
to meet with the leading figures of Samoa, including the King and his Prime
Minister. "I had to make certain the Samoans...

| | VPI/VCI settings by
[ste parker]
If these are set incorrectly in an ADSL router, would it explain why a
connection can't be made?
For example, I'm trying to set up a Netgear DG834G in Qatar (PPPoE,
going by the settings in the current Speedtouch modem). The
"autodetect" didn't come back after 10+ mins but it seemed to have the
settings right (VPI/VCI 8/35 respectively for Qatar), however even once
I put in the...

I've currently got a wireless ADSL router downstairs at the corner of the
house where the BT socket comes in, in the hallway. Signal downstairs is
OK, but upstairs it is rubbish. There are no other BT sockets in the house,
other than the master socket in the hallway. Trying to think of an
effective way of getting wireless across the whole house and thought if I
could get a homeplug...

Netgear makes products that allow ethernet networking over the
domestic mains supply. I got two of these:
http://www.netgear.com/Products/PowerlineNetworking/PowerlineEthernetAdapters/XE103.aspx?detail=Specifications
One for the router and the other for a PC. (You must have at least two
units for the system to work).
However, one of the units died after only seven days and I was
wondering if...

will_usher@yahoo.co.uk
I've got a mac with Windows XP 64 installed and i want to network it
to a PC with Windows XP 32.
I've bought a 'Sitecom' wired router and gone through the network
setup wizard on each... but i cant see the files on the other computer
(on both). The Sitecom people tell me it should work.
Any ideas on whats wrong/how I should do this/or what type of router i
should use?
