| | Routering issue under XP Pro by
Mario Pilotti
Hi folks,
I got a curious situation with my DSL network at home; the network is:
Router ADSL digicom michelangelo
2 PCs (one with WinXP Pro, brand new, and another with XP Pro and 98)
On the new PC I have no issue, as on the old one under 98. But the old under
XP Pro is not able to obtain automatically the IP from the router. I have to
set it manually and doing this I'm able to see my home...

| | External Antenna 2 by
Stuart Dennett
Hi again. I just need to make sure of a few things that were hinted at in
an earlier thread.
My room is lined with aluminium. I cannot get a good signal from my
wireless router even if I have the router in the same room as my computer.
Is this to be expected, or is my card broken?
Can I buy an external antenna (like a desktop one) to run from my wireless
network card to outside the room? Is...

This is just an idea that i have but can anyone tell me if it is practical.
I am not very tech minded when it comes to networks so if you could just
keep it simple please (hope that doesn;t sound rude)
My dad has broadband and I don't. Can I dial up and access his programs, run
them and save the contents to a folder on his disk drive and then burn them
to cd at a later date. For example I would...

Can somebody please help me, this is driving me nuts!
I've just purchased a Wireless ADSL Modem & Router (Origo AWR - 8210) and a
PCMCIA Card, to enable me to network my PC and Laptop and have access to
broadband, through either or both independently of each other.
The Router is wired to the PC with RJ11(?) and obviously the laptop is
wireless.
Currently, both can access the internet even at...

| | Length of crossover cable by
Tx2
I am going to be networking two PC's together, and will require approx
30m of cable.
Is this a workable length for a crossover cable, or would I do better to
hub the PC's? There are no plans for an expansion of the network.
TIA

Which programs, is it only internet explorer that doesn't seem to be working
or does messenger definatley not work too. If it is only the browser that
isn't working he might have the wrong DNS servers setup for his internet

| | Search files on LAN by
John Smith
Hi!
I'm search software for finding files in local network and find LAN Search,
File Search for LAN and Cool Find. But all three programs is not really
cool, because search is performed for very long time. Is anyone can suggest
more fast program or solution for fast file searching in local area network?
Thank you for any suggestions.
Sorry for bad English.

Nathan
Help!
I've got a Toshiba WBG-1200A wireless ADSL router, hasn't given me any
trouble since I've had it until now. I'm trying to get it to port forward
via it's web config but I'll be buggered if it wants to play ball. I've
tried FTP on port 21 and 8080, HTTP on 80 and 8080, and nothing gets through
it. It's not like the config screen is particularly complex, just name the
port forwarding...

To everyone interested in Draytek Vigor products.
I signed up to their UK support forum (which granted had an agreement which
said I had to own a Vigor router) and posted a pre-purchase question. Each
time, the post, along with the account that posted it was deleted within a

I looked at the rules for the board and noticed an e-mail address for any
