| | Cable recommendations for home network by
George Hewitt
Might as well just lay Cat5. Wireless is easier but the equipment can be
expensive and you won't get the same speed as a wired network.
When you get your electrician (or if you're going to do it yourself) make
sure he/you is/are au-fait with laying cat5 cable and has experience. Cat5
has been known to complain with corners and if it hasn't been crimped in
securely then you make get a loose...

| | ADSL connection question by
George Hewitt
Okay just looked at Vigor's site:
http://www.draytek.com.tw/english/product/vigor2600_x_w_we.php
One is for ADSL, one is for ISDN. Maybe he should have looked at the manual
or the labellng of the ports?! (The picture shows that it is clearly written
on the device).

I don't know about Vigors but one will probably be for the modem (IN) the
other could well be an OUT for the telephone.
Check the manual maybe?

| | FTP problems by
Frank Jukes
I'm using WS_FTP to upload my web sites from my Win XP Pro machine which
has Kerio firewall running.
Uploads run for a short time and then WS_FTP hangs. Once I have shut it
down I can see that not all files were uploaded and of those that were,
some were only partially transferred.
If I stop Kerio running then transfers are fine.
Now I've had this running perfectly in the past but cannot...

| | Domain registrar advice by
Iain Hallam
I've currently got two domains and I'd like to change registrar if I can
- my current one seems to go in for deleting mail without warning if
their systems get overloaded. I need a cheap registration fee (.net and
..org.uk) and an easy way of pointing the domain's name servers at my
ISP's. Any recommendations? (Not Easyspace...)
Thanks,
Iain.

| | Problem trying to set up ICS -- help appreciated. by
Martin
I have just set up a peer to peer wireless network between a laptop
and a desktop, both running XP Home.
The desktop has internet access via NTL set top box and a second NIC.
The desktop can access the internet without problems but i can't get
any response from the laptop.
The actual wireless network functions okay, ping from each PC to the
other and shared folders and printer access is okay.

Hi
I have a wireless network card (Belkin 54g PCI) with a black plastic antenna
on the back. I keep getting disconnected from our house's network since my
room is lined with aluminium, so it cannot keep the signal. Can I buy or

move my computer?
