server control by Bernard Peek
In message , in2minds writes using a Win2K PC as a server and WinXP as the client, for ICS purposes is there a program I can use to start/control programs on the server (to run on the server) from the client machine ? Take a look at VNC. It will allow you to take complete control of either machine from the other.

You may well find that your local library can offer you what you need or failing that, take a look at UK Online (the government site not the ISP)

Wireless Newbie - Quick question! by ashnewstead
I would like to create a wireless network at home.. I have a desktop PC, and a laptop which gets used in various places around the house. What I need to know is the following: 1) Can I just buy a PCI wireless card for the desktop and a PCMCIA wireless card for the laptop and get them to talk to each other? I realise that there's different standards, and presumably I'd have to make sure they...

Firewire Networking by Mike Hughes
there was something about it either in PC Pro or tomshardware (i think i may have seen it on both) a while back, i would recommend giving them them static ips not DHCP. Spinal wrote: My 2 PCs connect to the internet via My 4 Port ADSL Router. And since my new mobo in the PC has a FireWire port, ive bought a firewire cable to connect the 2 PCS for the faster transfers between them.

What am I doing wrong? by Sean Heenan
Up until a few months ago I was using a crappy generic adsl modem/router to connect my 2 PCs and 2 laptops to the internet and each other. When this died I thought I would push the boat out and splurge £100 on a Netgear DG814 router. Since installing this the pcs all connect to the internet but I cannot get them to network with one another. the network kinda looks like this:

Remote access to DSL-504 router? by Jez
We have a small LAN at work with broadband and a D_Link DSL-504 router. I have broadband (with Netgear 824M router) at my home and I want to access the LAN using PC Anywhere (or similar). D-Link tech support seem vague and somewhat inconsistant with their advice on the DSL router setup. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I already have a decent hub and adsl modem, and my major concern is about getting the best coverage throughout the house and Im assuming that an access point plugged into the hub will be best solution. The reason why I ask is that I used to have the Asus ADSL modem with integrated hub and wireless but the range was...
