| | Does Zonealarm Effect A Network? by
Rich
I have a desktop (XP home) and laptop (XP home) networked with a crossover
cable and can access the internet from both only when I exit Zonealarm (free
version). I have been told that this is a problem if you use ZA freeware
version, but is not a problem if you are running ZA Pro. Any knowledge or
experiences with regards to this would be appreciated.
TIA

I'm sure some of some you have been in the same situation ....
meeting room ..... one company LAN connection ...... 7 or 8 people with
laptops, all hoping to sync their e-mail before the meeting starts.
What I'm after is a small, light Ethernet hub (10Mb is fine) that has 5-8
ports and preferably powered from a USB port on one of the laptops ....
I have found the sort of thing I'm looking for...

| | Router betwn 2pcs keeps losing DNS by
Jay
You don't say which OS you are using, however....
When you have a home network with automatic DNS/IP adresses, one of
the PCs is acting as a server of IP addresses - in your case it sounds
like PC1 is doing this. Thus when you switch on PC2 alone, it
flounders as it has nowhere to go to get its "automatic" address.
Try switching to manual settings. Tell both PCs the DNS settings for
your ISP...

MAC addresses don't generally change unless you reassign the address to
clone a NIC to a router.
Are you sure you don't mean dynamically- allocated IP address?
yes im sure, i have to change the mac address in my router to
'00:26:54:0a:c4:10' to get it to work. If i click on the 'Clone MAC Address'
button it comes up with an address and it stops my internet connection
working.

Hi,
I have a 2 PC network (both Win 2k), which works fine as far as file and
printer share, but the Internet connection sharing won't work. The second
NIC in the main PC does not pick up a default gateway when internet
connection sharing is checked. - Any ideas?

Hi,
My sister-in-law was telling me all about the junk email they get.
This is a big problem as they have four children and their parents
have to filter out all the spam email they get before letting them
onto the computer.
I think there maybe a wider issue though of preventing the kids from
accessing sites they should not. Are there software packages out there
that will restrict the sites they...

I don't know if your router supports it but try changing the IP addressing
on it. I.E. Change all the IPs on the router to 192.168.1.x. This will mean
the router is at http://192.168.1.1 and the modem at http://192.168.0.1. I
don't have your router so unfortnately can't help.

I set up a mapped drive on each of the wireless machines (n:\) to point at a

It worked for about a week, then 2 wireless machines decided they could only
