| | WiFi Card suggestions by
Dantes
Hi
I've just bought a Dell CPx J 750GT and want to pop a WiFi card into it.
Does anyone have any experience of any of the suppliers, I have looked at
Netgear, D-Link, Belkin and Intel and can't see much difference. It will be
used with my Netgear wireless ADSL router but also hopefully in WiFi
hotspots here and in New York. I'll be running Win2K.
Cheers

I have Compaq Tablet - one of the nice looking (but too slow) laptop thingys
with built-in wireless connectivitet 811b or whatever.
I also have my PC witht a standard LAN card and bought a LAN adapter - a
thing that plugs into my LAN card via a short bit of RJ45 cable. Problem is,
I bought it in Japan and only have a Japanese manual with it. Originally, I
had it working OK, with Internet...

Hi, I hope someone can help, what I need is to be able to connect my laptop
wirelessly to my ADSL internet connection which is downstairs in the house.
Most of the time it will be in the same room.
I have seen loads of products but I am baffled to what I need.
Do I need just an adaptor for each PC or do I also need an access point? Can
anyone recommend one that is easy to set up and maybe a...

When my computer crashes, more than often, only the Keyboard and the mouse
are frozen.
The traffic through the network is kept correct.
I'd like to safely turn the crashed PC off through the network, taking the
commands from the server.
What piece of software shall I install ?

I have a notebook computer here that has internet access via NTL cable
modem. No problems there
I have just bought a brand new Dell tower system that has two NIC's
installed and have been given an old Netgear DS104 dual speed hub.
What I would like to do is keep the notebook as a gateway and have the Dell
running as client. I know that with the Dell having two Nic's, ICS won't be
a problem but...

Thanks for the help. As promised yesterday here is the report.
Well, psshutdown isn't functioning on win98 machines, too bad !
Remote shut is detected and deleted from the disk as soon as it is launched
!-(
Needed to download twice !
I tried to deactivate the protection before installing it and reactivating
it after. It detects it again and deletes it from the disk.

Hi,
After moving home, I've just about got ADSL running again. However,
the place I'm living in now is a lot bigger, so I've invested in a

I'm looking for a tablet pc that will allow me to run a remote desktop of my
main PC via a wireless link. I'd plan to use it for surfing while in another
room from the main pc - maybe play MP3 file also. So in theory, i don't need a
very high spec processor running on the tablet PC.
Does anyone know of a cheap solution ? (UK).

Hi,
I plan to network 5 PC's in order for all to access our ADSL connection.
PC's will be in individual rooms throughout a rather large house with the
intention to put RJ-45 wall sockets in each room, these sockets will connect
into a patch panel via Cat5e solid core cable, patch cable connects the
patch panel ports into a Switch, ADSL Modem/Router also connect to Switch.
Here's what I think I...

I was given an old Nighthawk Electronics Ltd. PCK4V KVM recently, and would
very much like to use it. BUT there was no manual, there is no manual on
the net, and the company seems to have gone bust last year so there's no
chance of getting information from them. I opened the box up, and
discovered that it had actually been designed and built by "Digital

| | Simplest Way of Adding A Wireless Laptop To A Wired Network by
Bigguy
You will need a WAP (Wireless Acccess Point) and a wireless card for the
laptop.
Connect the WAP to a spare port of your network router - install wireless
card (PCMCIA/Cardbus).
Configure WAP (SSID, channel no, WEP, MAC address of laptop) and you are
there....
Mount WAP in a nice high place....
For Internet access you will only need 802.11b (11Mb) kit which is pretty
cheap now (See Belkin,...

Hi guys
We have an NTL monthly Dial-up connection account, which we use to
connect a couple of other computers via Ethernet cards to the
internet.
It was all working fine till yesterday afternoon, except for a few
issues with sending emails, and then the child computers just dropped
the connection, they can still see the parent computer (which connects
to the internet fine) and can share files...

Thanks for your responses to my last post. I could do with a little more
advice now though.

works until I switch on the firewall on the host machine - I have configured
it on both machines (ZoneAlarm) so that each network card is in the...
