I have just bought two Dlink ap900+ access points.
One to try and reach a neighbour with DSL and the second to replace a USB
DWL120 wireless adapter on second PC at home 7Metres away.
Up to now one connected and used as an access point direct to my main PC
(Most sites give details but include a router in the configuration, which I
don't have) I am directly connected via NIC and crossover cable...

| | Unable to setup 802.11b ad-hoc network between two Windows XP machines by
Jason Arthurs
I recently got hold of two wireless adaptors and briefly managed to
setup a wireless LAN which worked fine and was able to share the
internet connection and network drives. We have now moved house and
despite my best efforts I cannot raise a network connection between
these two cards.
I now have the two machines setup in the same room, one reports signal
strength as very good (USB adaptor) and...

I don't know everything, but I've never heard of a wireless device with a
modem inside that could plug right into a phone line. Usually would have to
have a PC with the modem, connect the PC to wireless network through
wireless access point.

Hi,
Ok, heres the situation. There currently 2 computers connected to this
router, both running XP.
We bought the router a few weeks ago, and all has been working pefectly
until now. Last night we upgraded the firmware from the netgear sites, and
since then, the connection has been getting dropped intermitently. If you
try to go to the router setup page, itll take ages to load, then if...

Eric Cartman
Hi Gang
Will shortly be getting pipex broadband. And want to go wireless. What
Im looking for is a 'all in one box' solution i.e. I just plug the
phone connection into the box and I am ready to go. Assuming I need a
ADSL modem/router/wireless access point, is that all? Any
recommendations?
I'm a linux user which might complicate things although I understand I
can do wireless ethernet, if so is...

.... but I've just been looking at my firewall log file (Windows XP Home
Edition V5.1 + Service Pack 1) and noticed that I have several groups of
'dropped packets' from 217.39.173.231. 'Whois' tells me this is a BT Public
Internet Service address - my ISP is NTL and I'm connected via NTL cable.
So why would a BT server somewhere be wanting to talk to my PC in such a
manner that the Firewall...
