| | Free listing on UK computer sales site by
jack@eebuy.co.uk
Hi all,
I've been on here for a long time but I thought I'd tell you about a
new website that's set up, called eeBuy. www.eebuy.co.uk
It's only started recently, but if you have something to sell then you
may find this is the preferred option to eBay or any other similar
service, since it is intended for the UK market, has UK registered
offices (so is bound by UK law), and respects UK morals...

| | Wireless networking and cordless phones by
Adam
Hello everyone
I've just moved into a house which, strangely, has only one phone socket.
Rather than get into extensive cabling, I thought I would go wireless.
I have successfully set up a wireless connection between my internet router
and a PC in another room. I'd now like to have some more phones. If I buy a
set of cordless phones, do I have to worry about interference between my
wireless...

| | Is there any money in being a Network Guru? by
Steve Olive
I was just wondering where the money is made these days...
Programming can be shipped to Asia
Selling hardware seems to have minimal/zero profit margins
Every monkey and his dog is building websites.
Could a man with some talent make decent money from knowing his onions as
far as networks are concerned?
(Not that I'm any good, but I have time and a desire to learn)

| | DG834G wireless performance problem by
seaandflag@hotmail.com
Hello,
there must be something wrong with my wireless network configuration on
a Netgear DG834G.
When my laptop is connected through the RJ-45 ports to the router, I
get internet access speeds close to 6Mbit/s (I'm testing the speed
using the ADSL speed test on http://www.adslguide.org.uk).
Now, when I connect the laptop through the wireless interface I get
speeds around 2Mbit/s. Even when I'm...

| | 2 IP Camera setup by
Cyberdog
Hi,
I have setup 2 Axis IP Cameras, but I am having some problems logging onto
them, and I think it could have something to do with the port being used. What
I would like to know is, can I port forward port 80 for both cameras or do I
have to use two different ports??
If so which port should I use along with port 80.
Thanks

| | cable broadband by
F9
A friend has asked me to set up a new modem/router for them.
They are on NTL.
So the question is do they need an ordinary modem/router-in-1 box, or do
they need a special cable modem/router-in-1 box?
Looking at the dabs website, it is not clear which will be required.

| | Securing Windows XP by
James Taylor
I know *nothing* of Windows. I am a Linux, Mac, and RISC OS hacker but
have avoided Windows all my life. However, I find myself in the position
of reinstalling Windows XP on a friend's laptop after reformatting to
get rid of a suspected viral infection. I've heard that Windows XP
service pack 2 can be infected within minutes of connecting to the
Internet unless, of course, you know what you're...

However, the Wireless Assistant program will not run and there is no Icon

| | ISPs kicking routers off internet? by
Rob
Hey there,
Want to know: is there some signal an ISP can send to your router that
will disable it? Some ISPs don't want their users sharing the
internet, and I've heard rumours that there is actually some sort of
signal they can send out to disable the internet on their routers.
If so, this may be happening to me: I have a wireless router set up so
I can have the internet in my living room,...

tarquinlinbin
Hello,
I am looking for an ip camera which can, if required, operate without
the pc being powered up and can be used as a cctv/security cam. It
would have some kind of motion detector software on board,a web server
and could remote store captured video.I need to have one with decent
optics and that can work in lowish light conditions. So many cctv type
cams have rubbish optics/pics that they are...

| | "Attached devices" list -Netgear DG834G by
robert@invalid.invalid
Hi
Since upgrading firmware to V3.01.25, the "attached devices" list on
the router browser page is very flakey.
There is no problem with wireless devices actually connecting and
working but wireless devices are only listed for 1 to 2 hours then
only wired devices listed.
Disabling and re-enabling "access control" resolves the problem for 1

I've got a netgear DG834PN and i had to reinstall my system a month ago.
Since then I have been getting pregnant pauses while browsing, emailing or
