| | VPN passthrough broken on Voyager 2110 (also possibly other Voyager products) by
Andrew Hodgson
Hi,
A couple of days ago I post a question here asking whether anyone had
any issues with the VPN passthrough on their BT Voyager routers.
However, I can now confirm that with IPSEC VPN clients (i.e, the
Nortel VPN client), the VPN passthrough function is broken on the
router. I have examined the packets going out fine, but with the
local IP of the machine, then nothing is returned from the...

| | Netgear WGT634U http server router by
Stephen
Is there any other router that will do this job? I want to run an http
server without having my PC switched on all the time, and the Netgear
WGT634U "Media Router" seems to be made for the job, but it's very hard to
come by. Everywhere I look they're either discontinued or out of stock, and
the reviews say they're unreliable and have problems with overheating. I'd
really like something like this...

I have a SOHO in the garden, which has a phone line to it so I can plug
the router in and get ADSL via a small wired LAN in the SOHO, but I want
to get wireless /back/ to the house which is only about 15 - 20 feet
away. I thought of putting up a small external antenna to boost the
signal, but haven't a clue where to start looking, particularly as i'm
not sure which connectors will fit my...

| | IP question: Hosting a Server on a Machine on a Belkin LAN by
50295@web.de
Hi -
I would like to host an FTP server on my machine, which is connected on
a Belkin (F5d7630-4A, I believe) router. Problem is that my machine
does not have a unique IP address. How do I get round this problem and
host my server?
Thanks

| | UPNP Internet Gateway keeps dropping with Belkin WiFi Router by
Chris Smithers
Hi all, I have:
WinXP Pro SP2
Belkin Wireless G Plus router (F5D7231-4 with latest firmware)
Internet Gateway and UPNP enabled in XP
UPNP enabled in my Router's admin page
However, at random intervals the Internet Gateway connection vanishes, the
icon disappears from Network Connections, and the connection icon goes from
the tasktray. Then many file transfers such as MSN slow down.

| | Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 or USR MAXg by
markalroberts@gmail.com
Hi
I want to get a wireless router that will give me a lot of range -
about 30feet and a wall or two. I don't want to spend much more than
about £65, and I don't want to have to replace my two Belkin 54g
wireless PCI cards.
Looking at what's available, the Buffalo and the USR seem to offer the
increased power/range without needing new cards or costing a bomb.

I need a little advice if poss.
I have Blueyonder 10meg which works flawlessly on my desktop which is
connected via ethernet cable to a belkin 54G 4 port router. When i do
the blueyonder speed test it correctly reports a 10meg connection.
My problem starts with my laptop which connects via a 54G wireless
Broadcom mini-pci card connection. I have no problems with the stability

| | Wireless Network Causing Crash by
RobDee
After many hours of investigations & testing, I've narrowed down the cause
of sudden crashes of my XP Pro Desktop computer to a Wireless issue.
The desktop simply cuts out as if the power supply's been pulled. I've
eliminated all sorts of likely causes (despite error codes suggesting
graphics cards, I'm 99.99% sure it's not anything to do with that - still
crashed after all drivers...

I am setting up a home LAN, with wifi router, and one desktop with an
ethernet card and a laptop with a wifi card. Both machines run win xp pro.
The internet connection is working fine with both machines, I have run
the networking wizards on both, and I can now access shared files on the
desktop from the laptop.
However, I don't have a 'my network places' shortcut in my start menu on

| | NAS Security within a home network? by
Tom Walker
I've just added a Buffalo 250gb LinkStation to one of the ethernet ports
on my Belkin ADSL Modem/Router (ethernet + wireless). Plan to use it as
additional storage and to back some of the data from a couple of PCs.
How can I check/ensure that the LinkStation is not visible/accessible
from the Internet?
Thanks for any feedback.

| | Router problem by

I had some friends over this the weekend and we've been trying to setup a home network so we can play x-box 360 online. We fitted a LAN card but couldn't get the link-up to work. Went to PC World and they advised me to buy a router and try that. I've bought a Linsksys Wireless G (WAG54GS) to replace a BT Voyager 105 but can't get the thing to work. When I first inserted the disk and tried to setup...

I understand that both these applications are used for backing up hard disc
partitions etc. But which is the better utility? Does naone ave
experience of these two programs and which do you recommend for use as the
best backup program? Thanks
Plus points for each would be welcome, if you have deep knowledge of either
of them.

Does anyone know to setup a complete home network.ie cable tv, dvd,
hifi and computer. I dont want to end up with multiple sockets in each
room but a compact multi plug system. I think this would be a hard
wired system but I bow to your judgement. Any info on suppliers,
articles would be appreciated.

| | Networking to a garage by
Simon Finnigan
Hi All,
I'm hoping to run a network out to a garage to provide a semi off-site
backup location. Data will be synchronised automatically from an existing
onsite back up. This will be done late at night so it won;t disturb anyone.
The total dataset is about 30 gig in size, but the majority of this remains
static day to day, a mazimum of 2-3 gigs a day being updated is all that is
expected...

Apparently I need the IP address to I can add new printer.
I have downloaded and tried just about every piece of software on Epsons
site 'netconfig', 'winassist' etc but all I get is 'searching'.
Has anyone any pointers to how I can make this...

I think the chipset is either amtel or prism, is there a way I can
