Help by Alan
I've installed a Belkin ADSL modem and router model F5D/7632-4 in my desktop PC and a Belkin laptop network card model F5D7010 to my laptop. The wireless connection between both has been working for three days but today I cannot connect. Probably a dull question but does the weather have any bearing on the ability to connect to both computers. I've also find the instructions for this...

Wireless Internet - Belkin F5D9012UK by dan roberts
Hi. I have just brought the Belkin F5D9012UK to try and set up wireless net access in my house. We only have 1 phone socket which is in the lounge, the PC is upstairs in the spare room and thus we have a lovely white extension cable running all the way up the stairs! Great fun for nearly killing yourself on in the mornings, but not very good for anything else! I was hoping to be able to...

How to steal neighbor's signal? by roger
I have a wireless card in my laptop and picked up a pretty good signal from someone's Linksys access point in my building. I bought a Netgear cable/dsl wireless router (4 Ethernet ports also ) thinking I can set it up as a repeater (for the stolen signal) and be able to hook in other (wired) PC's in my apartment. The problem is, the antenna is only a transmitter (as far as I can tell) and the...

Message pop-ups across network by MJP
"Keith" wrote in message ... I've two desktops and a laptop, all wireless linked by Linksys, and all running Win ME. My profoundly deaf daughter has a desktop machine in her bedroom, and methinks it would be handy to be able to pop-up "tea's ready" style messages on her screen. Can anyone suggest a suitable...

wireless security by J
Hi, Just a few quick questions to ask about setting up a wireless router securely. Just been reading the 'stealing neighbour signal' thread with interest and made me wonder what I could do to make my wireless network more secure. 1. I've changed the default SSID to something else and try to change this regularly.

Wireless Network query by Todger O'Toole
Just got a Netgear wireless router WGT624, its connected to my NTL cable modem and hard wired to my PCs network socket and internet access is fine. I can also surf wirelessly on my laptop using the netgear WG511T pcmcia card. No probs with that side of it. But I decided to try and set up a network between my hard wired dell pc - XP Home and the Sony laptop XP Pro via the wireless link. Tried...

Network help please?? by Graham
I have a limited knowledge of networking but want to link two home PC's together to run MS Flight Simulator on split screens. I have a P4 3.2 and P2 600mhz. Can some tell me exactly what network cards I should buy, make and model would help as there seems to be soooo many and a hub or switch that will link them, also what cables I will need? I like to use Dabs.com to order stuff so if you...

REPOST : VPN woes ... i need help by ComPCs
Repost as I haven't seen the original show up on the server...? I'm trying to set up a VPN between my 2 home ADSL accounts, if for nothing else, a bit of practice! I have 'managed' to connect to one machine from the other, by "manage", I mean I get the icon in the system tray to show connection, but I cannot fathom out how to actually browse files on the PC into which I am now VPN'd!

gah! VPN woes! by ComPCs
I'm trying to set up a VPN between my 2 home ADSL accounts, if for nothing else, a bit of practice! I have managed to connect to one machine from the other - in other words I set up the VPN for an outgoing connection from machine 1 to machine 2, it connects, I get the icon in the system tray to show connection, the incoming router shows the connection under VPN management properties, but I...

I have 2 PCs. PC1 connected directly to a Belkin Modem/Router F5D7630-4A via wired LAN. PC2 uses a wireless card to share internet connection with PC1. All worksOK so far. PC1 is also connected (via USB) to a printer that I wish to share with PC2. I also wish to be able for each PC to see the other's hard drive. Both PCs run XP home SP2. PC1 with PC-Cillin, PC2 with Symantec Internet...

I have a USR XX5422 USB 802.11g wi-fi dongle in my PC and a shared NTL cable modem connection through a USR 802.11g wi-fi router (the two came as a bundle). There is also another PC connected via CAt5 cable to the router. both PCs can access each other's files fine and both can get on the internet OK but the PC with the wireless connection occasionally loses the internet connection. I can...

Login Password for Netgear 102 access point by Steven Campbell
Anyone know the Login password for a Netgear 102 access point? I'm having problems setting this up (see other post) and have tried to access the access point via its SNMP manager to see if it gives me any other options. I've searched Netgears site and scoured Google but no joy. I've tried the usual 1234, password, netgear etc but everything gets rejected.

Wireless connection question ... by Ellada
Hello People, I currently have a wired home network with 3 computers connected to a single router (Netgear RP614 v2). However, I want one of the computers to connect to my router via a wireless connection instead of cable. How would I do this ?? I guess I need to plug some type of transmitter/receiver into the current RJ45 port of my router and use a wireless PCI card in the PC. Am I right? If

WTD Wireless Router/Access point with AOL compatibility by
I have AOL broadband. I have heard that AOL as usual has made it difficult for wireless home networking because it is not always on service and requires logging in. I have 1 desktop and 2 laptops. I want all the computers to have internet access. How can I do that and what equipment will work with AOL broadband service? All the computers need to have wireless access. If anyone has such...

Communicating Across Network Ranges by Jeff Gaines
Following some excellent advice from Alex Fraser in this group I now have a home network running in the 192.168.1.n address range and a NAS box connected directly to a second NIC on my server using addresses of 182.168.2.n. It would be useful if I could communicate across these two networks to (a) allow the NAS to set its time over the Internet and (b) allow the NAS to send progress emails. To...
