DG834G probs by Tim..
Anyone had problems with the above (ver 2- white case) whereby it spontaneously and without warning resets itself when asking for it to work. Sitting idle it never resets. (or never seems to) Symptoms are XP suddenly reporting netowrk cable unplugged. Disabling, then enabling the LAN and contacting the router shows it to booting up and the connection time back to 0. Its 3 months old.

Power Adaptor settings for BT Voyager by drgreenway@gmail.com
Hi, I have been supplied with an incorrect adaptor for my BT Voyager 2100 wireless ADSL router, and wonder if I can alter the settings on a variable power adaptor to make it work. Could someone who owns one have a look at their adaptor and tell me what voltage and current (and polarity) their original BT adaptor is delivering?

Setting up an XP server. Keyboard and mouse removal by Lee_D
OK , I've got apache installed and running. I'm happy the site can be seen on the web. To log on past the login screen I need to input the username password (standard XP login) If I remove the Keyboard , Mouse and monitor is their any way around this initial log in screen that will still give me the security required for remote log in using remote desktop?

What cables should I run? by deano@yesits.freeserve.co.uk
Assuming I'm posting to the correct group, and I can't imagine how I'm not, I need some advice on the following... I'm nearing completion of my, purpose built, studio at the far-end of my, very long but very narrow, garden. Part of the construction involved digging a trench, from the house to the lodge, which was about 50m in length.

Port forawarding on 3Com router by Jon
Hi all, In another thread I'm trying to set up my machine to accept incoming VPN connections. Can someone with a 3Com router explain how to point port 1723 to LAN ip 192.168.1.2? I think it's the section called "Virtual Servers" but I can't be sure.

One of those stupid problems...... by Mike Scott
Setup: *BSD machine as router with 192.168.0/24, 192.168.1/24 and cable modem interfaces. No problems talking between machines on the two subnets or out to the wide world. F5D7130 WAP connected as 192.168.1.254. When I installed this, I set the netmask for the WAP as 255.255.0.0 and used a proxy arp demon on the gateway so the WAP could access the other subnet. It's worked well enough. ...

Warning - Netgear WG311T drivers (PCI wireless card) by Martin Underwood
Here's something I discovered by bitter experience, which I'll pass on to avoid anyone else being frustrated: The Netgear WG311T PCI wireless card fails to be detected by Plug and Play if you use the latest non-beta drivers from the web - Software Version 3.2. Having installed these drivers, when you plug the card in and boot up again, P&P detects it as "Ethernet Card" rather than "Netgear...

identify network problem by Gaz
Having a network problem, the network has been fine for about six months but has started to play up. Network is a workgroup consisting of four XP home machines and one win98, one of the XP machines is used as a file store, which the other PCs regularly save to and read from (mainly for autocad). One of the PCs, a winxp machine, but not the machine now holding the shared files, has a...

VPN .... how do you connect? by Tx2
I'm 'experimenting' with VPN back to my home PC for my laptop when i'm out an about and have dynamic IP internet access. Is this possible, in the first instance, and assuming i've set up my 834G router correctly, how do i initiate the connection back to my home PC? For example ... I'm 'somewhere' where I do have internet access, perhaps dialup, but most likely broadband on a router based LAN...

minimal internet/home system by silicono2@yahoo.com
I just got a 2nd hand PII and I'm surfing the internet with few problems. It's got me wondering what minimum system you need if you want to go online--in theory it can be a very slow, old computer (PI or below), if the internet connection is a real bottleneck (esp. dialup)? However I'm seeing more and more websites that absolutely refuse to run if you don't have flash support, in which case I'd...

VPN vs. Home Network vs. File Transfer & VNC by Nick
Oooooook (deep breath)... I work at home all the time. I have broadband and (as of tonight) a nice router so that all of my machines get web access, as well as being able to see each other (share files). All, except one, are on the same workgroup. The other one, owned by the company I work for, is not. That machine uses Cisco VPN to connect to the company network. Until it's connected, I...

Linksys WAG54G alternatives by Lee_D
Hi all, I've recently come over to ADSL from broadband. Previously I was using a Sitecom WIreless router with my canble (Ntl) connection, no issues with the router just the blasted service provider... anyway. I've joined Zen and ordered a DSL300T ADSL modem which I was hoping to run through the Sitecom WL-025 but I can't get the two to talk to each other. More specifically I want to be able...

Linksys WRV54G and VPN by D.M. Procida
Just got one of these on a recommendation, though I having no luck with it. I want to set up VPN access to the LAN from outside, so I have created the appropriate entry in "VPN client access". I can't connect with Mac OS X's built-in VPN client. I can't connect with Cisco's Mac OS X client. A Windows user (who also happens to be a Cisco networking expert) can't connect using the Linksys client.

Router problem by F9
I have a dynamode 4-port router with two computers connected up via ethernet cables. One computer tends to be on most of the time, but on occsion when switching the second one on, i get no light on the router port where the second computer is connected. I check all the settings on the computer that fails to connect and all is as you would expect. Nothing has changed on the router either.

Virtual ISP? Dial-up to ADSL computer? by Fred
I have broadband on a Win2000 machine using a Draytek router. I would like my children to dial into my computer to access the internet. I have two telephone lines so I can test the setup here. I have created an "Incoming Connection" and the PCs handshake and connect. However that's about as far as it goes and there's no internet access. I can, however, ping the Win2000 machine from the...
