| | Seem.co.uk e-mail redirection problems? by
Paul D.Smith
Is anyone who uses Seem.co.uk to provide domain name redirection having
problems with redirection sometimes failing? I'm currently "discussing"
with them and my ISP as to why e-mails are getting bounced.
I just want to know whether anyone else is having the same problem or it's
just me!
Cheers,
Paul DS

| | Bridge by
We've bridged ethernet and wireless lan cards under windows xp, bridge is
working fine, but is there a program to limit traffic or even
disable it that's going to another computer behind the bridge on ethernet
network, strange thing is that some programs for network monitoring
example DUMeter or BWMeter aren't even aware of traffic that's going
throught the bridge computer, it's only aware of...

| | DG834G VPN possible without Netgear's client? by
Ian Chard
Hi,
Is it possible to connect to the DG834G's VPN server without using
Netgear's own client? I can get bits and pieces of a response by using
the native XP Pro client, but I'm not really sure what I'm doing as my
knowledge of the ins and outs of VPN protocols is pretty much zero.
Cheers

| | Zyxel router problem - says it's resetting continuously by
usenet@isbd.co.uk
I recently bought a Zyxel 660H router as we are due to get ADSL
tomorrow or the next day. I bought it on the strength of a Zyxel 334
router that I had already bought in anticipation of Wireless
Broadband which has yet to arrive after never-ending delays.
Both these routers have a facility called "Traffic Redirect" which
reroutes requests from the router (as default gateway on the subnet)
to an...

| | buying a wireless access point in the usa for the uk by
Jack
Hi
I will be visiting the US to do some PC shopping
I'd like to buy a wireless router. It seems like netgear seem to have
the same models as the US like the WGR614, linksys don't seem to offer
the BEFSR41 on their US site.
My home connection is DSL (512) using an Alcatel speedtouch 330 modem.
Currently the modem has one cable which connects to phone line (rj45)

| | Switch question by
Andrew Hodgson
Hi,
I got a cheap switch from a fair a while back - cheap because the
outer casing is a bit damaged, but it is in a cupboard so who cares?
Anyway, this switch is a 24 port switch, and has two fans on it, which
are a bit noisy to be onist. My main question is does such a switch
use more power than say a 12 port switch with no fans? I am never
going to use all 24 ports.
Thanks.

| | Routing by
Alan Walker
Hi,
I have a mobo with two ethernet ports and a wireless card.
I want to route most traffic for my internal network via one ethernet, all
external traffic via the other ethernet and one particular connection via
wireless.
I remember long ago doing this using Vi to edit the routing tables on Unix
boxes but I'm sure there's a nice shiny gui toy to do the hard work for me

| | Actiontec causing interference with phone by
juneappal
My actiontec wireless router (802.11g, wt701-g, supplied by qwest with
dsl service) is causing interference in my phone. It is worst in my
wireless phone (900Mhz, Uniden) - With that phone it is sometime very
hard to hear.
However - I also have an old-school rotary dial phone (baby blue, made
by bell-labs in the late 70's) The actiontect causes interference on
this phone /even if it isn't...

| | Setting up wireless network by
Trevor Appleton
Or rather re-setting it up after we went broadband and my ISDN router wasn't
suitable for our wireless/satellite system.
The XP wireless network wizard asks you to put a flash drive into the PC
which I do. It then says to put this into the wireless access point.
My WAP doesn't have a USB connection, so where do I go from here?

| | cat5 cable 'outdoors' by
T.
Hi all,
I've got some cat5 cable stuff to sort out at my house.
Basically, in terms of physical routing, the idea is to have it going
over the roof from the front to back of the house and then into one of
the rooms through an already created pipe for cables.
Main concern is issues with lightening etc. and other bad weather
causing damage or problems.

| | DG834GT & DNS Issues by
nin
Hi,
I can't find a solution for this anywhere!
I have a Netgear DG834GT Router. I can connect to my router and I can
also ping my router. When I put a web address in the Diagnostics page
and get the IP of the address, I can go to the address using that IP in
a web browser.
However, if I just type http://www.google.com - it doesn't work!

| | How to set up VPN with 3COM Router? by
BJH
Hi
I'm going to have a go at setting up VPN at my Office where I've got a
Windows XP machine connected to a 3COM ADSL Wireless Router.
I've asked my ISP to allocate a block of 4 IP addresses and I've had a look
at "Windows XP Inside Out" by Ed Bott which has a chapter devoted to
allowing remote access via a Virtual Private Network.
I can see that I'll come unstuck setting up both the Router...

| | D-Link DGS-1008D and D-Link DWL-2000AP+ problem by
Mal Franks
Just replaced my dodgy old 10/100 switch with a D-Link DGS-1008D 8 port
10/100/1000 switch. However my new switch and my existing wireless access
point, a D-Link DWL-2000AP+ refuse to talk to each other. I have no
problems with any other connections to the new switch and the WAP doesn't
have any problems with communicating with the old switch.
Any ideas what the problem is?

John
Not that I need to do this, but if an IP address range only has 254 useable
addresses, (192.168.0.1 - 192.168.0.254)... How does an organisation with
more than 254 computers connect them to the network?
Cheers

| | Gaining access to workplace network by
Jon Parker
Hi all,
Any help appreciated.
My wifes office has a small network installed by a company who have now
gone bust and as such are not able to support them.
I have a very limited knowledge of networking (only what I have taught
myself) and I now want to gain access to their network to do a bit of
support for them.
