XP and 2000 Networking Problem by Kwaj
I am trying to get the computers in my home network to coommunicate. My Win98 and Win2000 machines are communicating and exchange files but neither of them can see my WinXP machine. My WinXP machine can't see any of the other machines either. I have tried to ensure that all three machines have the same collection of drivers and have also ensure that they all belong to the same group, 'Mshome'...

Setting up a network by JJJJ
We are in the process of setting up a network ready to go broadband. This is between a Mac and a PC with a Belkin router/modem. The Mac is talking to the router with no problems, but when we try to access the management page of the router we can't. Does anyone know why? Do we have to wait until we get the broadband information in? Is there a way round this? Thanks Jules

Computer is not accessible. You might not have permission... by Jonathan Eales
I have just networked my two desktops and a laptop together with a router. All the connections are fine and all computers can see each other in the same workgroup. However when I try to access one of the desktops I get the "\\name is not accessible. You might not have permission..." from one and "Access is denied" from the other. From a little web research I've:

'Limited or no network connectivity' even with correct WEP key by Jason Arthurs
I have recently reinstalled XP (SP2) on a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 with an inbuilt 802.11b Wifi card. Everything appears to be working fine and I can connect to my network via the wired LAN but I am unable to get a WLAN connection. The laptop sees the access point fine, I enter the WEP key and from there it behaves as if the WEP key was incorrect. I am connected and the signal strength is...

Trouble with Belkin - Please can someone help??? by GB
I am having trouble installing a Belkin Pre-N wireless card. Their telephone support is TOTALLY useless, and they are permanently engaged now. I have installed the wireless router ok. I have selected WPA security on the router. When I come to set up the card on the remote machine, the only security option I am being offered is WEP, even though the router is set up under WPA. Needless to...

Netgear DG834G from Amazon by Scooby Doo
I was thinking of selling my Netgear DG834G modem/router which I've had for about a year and buying the same one from Amazon as they give you a free USB Wireless adapter. Anyone know if this is a v2 kit and is what difference, if any, is there from the v1 machine? Thanks

Network two houses together? by mark
I'm planning of moving over the other side of the street, (out of my mums) but ideally would like to leave my server in the attic here. Is it legal for me to have some ethernet cable going from roof top to roof top like telephone cables? it's a very very quiet street... or is it just not do-able?

CAT5 wall plates by mark
Is it fairly easy to install CAT5 sockets on the wall? Is it just like installing a phone socket where the bare wires don't need to touch the terminals? I need to have one downstairs, a cable going up the outside wall into a socket upstairs

3com Office Connect Stacking clips by Stewart Bulloch
This might not be the best group to try but I have exhausted all over avenues! I am looking for some of the clips that 3com supply with SOME of their officeconnect range that allow you to stack them on top of each other. Apparantly 3com don't sell them as spare parts and only sell them with certain things. If any one knows where to buy a few or has a couple they want to get rid of please let me...

Help please - 98SE PC keeps rebooting by Toby
A small network of 5 pcs running 98SE. No internet connection and no new hard- or software installed for months. No virus, trojan or other nasties that I can find (ZA, AVG, Spybot S+D, Adaware etc). All pcs can see and communicate with each other, and the network has been rock solid for a couple of years. All of a sudden 1 pc has started rebooting if it is accessed by any other pc on the network....

Should Netgear DG834G disable AV by Pinot Grigio
Just bought NetgearDG834G Firewall Router. I have NIS 2004 Pro. Following the instructions, I have got as far as plugging it in and turning on the pc. When I boot up, NAV is disabled but NIS is ok. Unplugging Netgear and plugging Speedtouch 330 back in, NAV is ok. Is this normal on installation or is there more trouble ahead? Methinks trouble as surely AV should be active to be scanning new...

Maximum network cable lengths. Doing my head in... by Bonge Boo!
This is doing my nut in. I have 2 reels of Cat-5e cabling. One is stranded the other is solid core. I have been making my own cables up for years. I never have a problem. But recently I've been having problems with cables of over 10m. The weird thing it seems to be specific to the computer attached to the cable. Today I was at a site; cut a 15m stranded network cable. Linked up my laptop,...
