| | Netgear WG511, DG384G and WPA security by
Paul D.Smith
Anyone help? I have the above wireless router and Cardbus/PCMCIA wireless
adapter but I can only get a connection between the two if I turn _all_
security off!
With WPA on, the Windows XP wireless tool shows no networks, the Netgear one
shows one Network (mine!) with signal level 78% but it won't connect either.
I've checked the settings (correct SSID, WPA pass phrases etc) and I'm

| | Bandwidth monitor for WAN ONLY??? by
Eric M
Let me explain my problem.
I need to monitor my WAN data transfer, but not the LAN. I want to keep
track of the amount of data via the WAN, so I can monitor my monthly usage
of the internet. The problem is, when I transfer files down the network or
use Remote Deskyop to connect to my serverPC, I find that the LAN activity
is added to the rest of the bandwidth use recorded... Is there any...

| | Can AOL 9 be used with a router rather than a modem? by
Martin Underwood
I was reinstalling a customer's PC which used AOL 9 and a BT Voyager 105
ADSL modem. She asked whether she could instead setup a local network
(either wired or wireless) that would allow this PC and a couple of laptops
to access the internet and to share files/printers locally.
Had it been any other ISP, the answer is "yes - easy peasy". But what about
go-it-alone AOL?

| | Using two broadband links by
fredbloggstwo
Hi all,
here's a nutty one I need some help on.
I am trailing two broadband connections on different telephone lines. Each
has its own modem which presents an Ethernet interface and each modem path
then goes through a router/firewall. What I want to do is to connect both
up on the same network, but use one for browsing from IE and the other for
e-mail using Outhouse Express. The clients are...

| | Wireless shenanigans by
David McManus
I've just switched from a cable modem to ADSL so bagged myself a nice
litte ADSL wireless router from work (a Netgear DG834G v2 - the small,
white version).
It is, however, crap. Even a few feet and pure line of sight away,
the signal is only 'Good' and disappear around a corner and you've
had it.
Thinking the router was at fault, I then liberated a version 1 of the
same router model. With...

| | 2 questions: wake on lan and profile export to a server by
Langholm
Hi everybody. I have been assembling a server, in part from leftover
components, to be used as a backup utility of my own PC and for the ones of
my children. I installed Win2003 on it; our own PCs run WinXP. I'm not
unhappy of the progress I made so far, I'm not doing too bad as a
hobbyist... :-)
Here are two things I need some advise for; having seen the high level of
discussions here,...

Hi
I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I have 4 machines (all XPPro SP2 with NTFS) on a P2P network via a 3COM

The network is running fine but I'm struggling with sharing. I currently

Beck
I was under the impression that this router was equipped with a full
firewall, but it seems to be only an incoming firewall like the windows xp
firewall. Is this correct?
Unlike software firewalls I get no warning that a program attempts to
connect to the net.

I have just linked 2 PCs with a home network starter kit ( Network

I am just about to go broadband on a wireless network. I've ordered the
necessary card for my Mac and the modem router. The laptop which will be
connected to the network occasionally already has a card. Is there any other
hardware needed or do I have everything ready to go?
