| | Can I plug the Ethernet cable into another PC now? by
MM
Now that it's all working, can I simply unplug the Ethernet cable from
this PC and connect it to another PC, load up its browser and get a
connection? Or will I have to set up the Speedtouch again? Yeah, yeah,
I know it's not the best solution! I may even buy a switch soon!

| | ADSLMax: Training period by
Maurice Batey
Will be moving over to ADSLMax Broadband next week, and have noticed that
for the first 10 days the router/modem should be left 'on' all day, so
that the optimum sync speed can be established.
Neophyte question: Does that training period also need the PC to be
'on', or is the whole thing just between the router/modem (Netgear DG834G)
and the telephone system?

Clint Sharp
It's official, top scientists in an independent study have declared that
Lenny and the alarmist pseudo science drivel he and his type punt as
'evidence' is more harmful to people's health than mobile phone masts.
Quote;
'In the trial, many of those who blame masts for their symptoms reported
greater distress when they thought the signal was on, suggesting the
problem has a psychological...

Poor old Len, all agitated about double blind mast effect experiments.
Perhaps he should try the following experiment: -
A room has an aperture on the other side of which can be: -
nothing (control)
sun (~1G5m away)
nuclear reactor (~10m away) or large lump of Cobalt60 / X Ray machine
1Kw Microwave (open cavity)

| | Scheduling Use on DG834 Router by
TheScullster
Hi all
I am struggling with the firewall rules/scheduling on the Netgear DG834
router.
The appeal of this model was the ability to schedule when the device would
allow traffic through, this allowing a cut off point for service in the
evening (coincidentally this cut-off point just happens to be the kids'
bedtime :-)).
Trouble is it didn't seem to work as anticipated last night.

Hi
Have had BT Broadband option 3 MaxDSL for last 12 months and it usually
syncs at ~8000 with noise margin of 8.5dB and most of the time the
throughput is 5-6Mb. Yesterday, it still syncs at ~8000 and 8.5dB but now
the throughput is ~50Kb/s with gaps of about a second now and then where
there is nothing. BT support say it is just the number of users on-line but
it is the same at 7am so not...

I have a problem that started last Thursday. I can't login to my hosting
CPanel because I get a 401 error:

the system administrator and ask them to update the host access files."
I have contacted the hosts who said they can find nothing...

stephen
Isn't really annoying when you setup your new domain and the first
time you login to the email account there's spam waiting for you! And
I'm getting about 20 a day, mostly about the same thing - Viagra!
I guess it's from the person who owned the domain previously, the one
I transferred it from. But I suppose it's my problem now?

there 8meg 10Gig for £19.99 OR I'm thinking of going to Orange's 'Unlimited'
for £19.99 or any other ideas ?

Here are just a couple of snippets of information which should help you
realise how and where you are being suckered into a false sense
of security regarding cell phone and wi fi safety:
"A year ago, Microwave News also reported that approximately one-half of
all studies looking into possible damage to DNA by communication-frequency
EM fields found no effect. But three-fourths of those negative...

The language used by the Health Protection Agency to warn about the

Like the HPA, which is to probe into the technology next year, the committee of Haringey council urged a "precautionary approach" to WiFi, because of its potential...

Our BT Voyager 2110 has the wireless disabled cos wires are ok for us.

Oh my word please can someone help me?
I've ordered a machine from dell, excellent bargain for £599.32
However, I've had my credit card bill and they've billed it
for £2014.81, I've called their head office and emailed them
and now they're asking for copies of statements, it's all
dealt with in India and I know they have no data protection
laws over there.

as an anti-ES argument, the following points might be noted.
1. It...
