You can make FREE calls to landlines to many countries over the
Internet. They even call your landline to connect the call for free!
This is the cheapest telecom I have come across yet!
Really! Just check out their website here http://www.webcalldirect.com
If you're already using this service you will know how great it is!
Clear lines, great quality!
I would like to promote this service but...

| | Crossover or straight through cable? by
MM
My nephew reckoned that most modern ADSL gateways sense the kind of
cable attached and switch themselves accordingly. Is he right?
I ask because I've received the Zen hardware already (activation due
Friday), but the cable they supplied may be a little short. I do,
however, have a longer crossover cable that currently connects between
two PCs.

some of the posts offer conflicting advice.
My not very good connection to sky broadband connect (ie via BT) came
up with these stats.

| | Minimum requirement to run web servers by
kevin bailey
Hi,
I am looking at hosting a couple of very low use web servers which act as
project servers at my new office.
This should be no problem with a decent quality service from Demon as I have
carried out a similar setup before.
However, I may need to run busier web servers as well and I'd prefer to run
them at the office as well.

In the trial, many of those who blame masts for their symptoms reported
greater distress when they thought the signal was on, suggesting the
problem has a psychological basis.
What they are not telling you in the above is that many health problems
have a psychological *component*. There is no way of telling from their

| | New phone ring by
NH
Just a silly little query. Since my line was changed over to DSL Max last
week my phones now ring differently, one single ring with long pauses
between instead of the usual double ring. Is this normal?
I know its not that important, just curious.

I've been having problems since yesterday morning with my hosting

Something happened yesterday morning (don't know what) which blocked
access to my domain account resulting in me having to change my
password and which stopped me accessing webmail through cpanel giving
the error 'ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server'.
Emails from another account went back & forward all day...

kevin bailey
Looks like they are very price competitive with Demon who I normally use -
but we're looking at a difference of £120 per month.
Are Zen ok for the 2MB business service?
Thanks,
Kev

| | exchange congestion by
David Horne
I've probably mentioned this before, but what is the point of an ETA fix
for congestion at an exchange when those times are constantly missed,
then revised?
Manchester Central has had the following:
"BT is reporting that some of the virtual paths at this exchange are not
operating within BT Wholesale's planning guidance, although they are
still operating within the product specification."

| | ADSL VPN Router Recommendation? by
BJH
Hi
I've used 3COM, Draytek 2900 and a Netgear DGFV338 routers, with both the
Draytek and the Netgear I have successfully set up a VPN connection.
I found the Draytek to be relatively simple to set up as a VPN server, but
the Netgear was, for me, a real pain. Draytek suppport was non-existent
(other than the forum) where Netgear was absolutely first class, but then I
needed it!

Hi,
I think someone needs to step in and provide some clarity on LLU both phone

It is vastly to unclear and unfair presently. People are getting switched to
or are unaware buying LLU services. These can offer differ material in
functionality, flexibility, etc.
Their is also the issue of consequences. It appears that frequently LLU

| | Please Virgin can I have my 10mb line back by
Resident Drunk
Since the upgrade the performance has been awful. I am currently getting
36k/s download speed compared with the stable 1200k/s I had before the
'upgrade'. The only reason I pay 30 odd pounds per month is because I am
some distance from an telephone exchange, at the moment though I would
be better with a 2mb line from Sky.
