BT Network or Home Hub Blocking ESP by Maspry
Has anyone had any problems with the BT Home Hub or Network, where it seems that they have started to block IP protocol 50 (Encapsulating Security Payload) Part of the IP SEC group of protocols? I had aproblem with a 220V initially, however I had backed up a working config to XML and after reloading it the problem went away. Some people I know who are using the new Home Hub have not been able...

painless sky install by Beck
About half an hour ago the phone rang and the line went dead. Broadband still active. 5 mins later phone came back on and broadband went dead. Plugged in Sky router and it did a loving wink at me and then went live. Connection a breeze, wireless a breeze, xbox 360 now has OPEN nat instead of MODERATE (that could have been my old router being stricter). Everything seems okay. Router synching...

Bulldog - will a LLU line fix my problems? by jaminja
Hi folks... I'm currently with a crappy ISP, have been for a while but didn't mind because it's cheap. I recently moved about 2 miles and as a result I've gone from Chester North to Chester Central exchange (distance about 1.5 miles - same as before). The line is bloody awful, I get receive att of 60-63 receive margin 9-12 and tx 30-33/11-13. It seems to vary depending on the weather (!), spoke...

Time to write to BT.... by Gordon Hudson
Well I tried signing up for sky broadband and got nowhere because they said I had a cable phone line (not true). One of their sales people phoned yesterday trying to sell me broadband so I said yes but he said I was on a cable phone line. His supervisor could not help and said I must be mistaken and suggested I contact BT. So I phoned BT and they confirmed it was one of their lines and numbers...

Anyone have any idea about phone wiring in Israel. Got a USB Telbox which I was going to send out there but wondered if the plugs or wiring were different. It's to be used with skype and a cordless phone. Did try the Israel newsgroups but no replies. TIA - Mike

What does 'Ping' mean please. by Horse.trader
Just bought an ADSL wireless router etc., and on one if the speed-test sites, it gives a 'ping' test which gives what I presume a test shown in milliseconds. Is this a sort of send receive test to see how long it takes to get the signal back to it's origin?? Thanks

AOL broadband running at 60Kbs by DS
My speed dropped to a permanent 60kbs on Thurrsday and remained at that until yesterday, when in was back up to normal (3.7Mbs). Today it's dropped to 1.2MBs Trying to talk to their (Indian) technical support is like banging your head against a brick wall. All they do is blame my equipment. Anyone else have a speed issue? At peak times (Sunday to Thursday 7:00 PM onwards) the speed gets

More reasons to use a router... by NoNeedToKnow
Trouble installing your Broadand? Blame Vista. http://www.uk-bug.net/Article1461.html In brief, comments from ISPs that installation CDs might not work if you are using Vista and plugging in some device (eg a USB modem). Ends up with comment that their user forums might get some answers, or use a router (much recommended in this NG!) --
