More honest?
NO! They still have a fair use or acceptable use policy which goes against
the Unfair Contract Terms Act. The ASA are instructed not to get involved.
The ISP enforces a contract that is unfair under the above act and Virgin
are currently being investigated for false and...

Adam
Hi Everyone
My patience is wearing very thin with BT, who have twice disconnected
our ADSL connection "by mistake" since we moved office last month. The
first time it was off for about 4 days, and the latest time we've been
told there is no way of switching it back on again and will have to
wait for a brand new ADSL provision, which for some inexplicable
reason takes 5 working days.
I've been...

| | Recommendations for best 2meg ISP please? by
Andy F Batter
I've been with Pipex for years, and am paying ~£23 pcm for their Solo1000
1meg service.
I live in a remote location, but can now get 2meg from my local exchange.
Can anybody please recommend a good reliable ISP who can offer me a better
deal than Pipex? I only need 2meg service, so don't really want to be
paying for 8 when I can only use a quarter of that bandwidth.
Not worried about a...

Dave Boomhauer
I've got namesco's unlimited option and I know that most ISPs deliver
service on a contended basis, but every evening the service goes
****e........really slow.
Has anyone else experienced this with namesco?
I wouldn't expect it as I'm paying a premium price for a premium service.

| | Continuous broadband by
Bill Ridgeway
My broadband connection drops out a number of times each evening. It then
reconnects automatically - at a different speed - at continues. These
breaks in continuity are rather annoying when I'm trying to listen to a
radio programme.
I was under the impression that a broadband connection should be continuous
and that any change of connection speed should be seamless. Am I correct or
do I have...

They are a scam. If they think your traffic is too much they cut your
service. In they Fair Usage Policy they claim they will send two warnings
before they reduce your bandwidth. NOT TRUE. And after you spend ages on
paid customer support they ask to send a mail to
and this is what happens next:

| | Compulsory migration process for DSL providers starts on 14th February by
Motion
Migrating between broadband providers in the last year has become more
complex due to a number of issues which included disputes between wholesale
providers and their resellers, new broadband products such as shared
unbundling, fully unbundled lines and a number of broadband service
providers not signing up to Ofcom's voluntary code of practice

| | Why does Tiscali line speeds not agree with BT's by
Steve
I have just tested 12 numbers on my street to find that only one of them
agrees with Tiscali. According to BT most lines are good for 4 to 5meg, but
according to Tiscali these lines are only good for 2Meg. What is going on?
Are Tiscali telling lies? Are BT telling lies? Who is right and how come
the two databases don't tally with each other.
Is Tiscali making out that lines are good for only...

| | Tiscali SNR question by
Graham
ADSL service started 26 January with Tiscali.
Using Edimax AR-7064+ router downstream figures:
SNR = 6.5 dB
Attenuation = 39 dB
Speed = 7168 kbits/sec
Seems very good, but connection drops once or twice per hour - and continues
to do so now that 10-day training period is well past.

| | BT line repair strategy by
Gareth
My ductless underground cable has been causing problems for the 3 years I've
had it. There's a physical fault with the underground cable but BT has
chosen to swap pairs instead of fixing the problem - the other pair is now
playing up.
The second pair was recently fixed - almost inevitably a temporary fix
according to the engineer. The engineer explained to me that he is a
self-employed...

| | Netgear DG834 - work in Thailand? by
Stuart
Hi, I have the above router, which is all set up with VPN and works exactly
the way I want. How can I find out (in advance) if it will work on any of
Thailand's ADSL networks? From what I can establish, most users have a
network router. The telephone connection on the wall socket, is an
International-style socket. It works with a 56k UK dial-up modem, if that's
any help.
I doubt that...

djmg2@lycos.co.uk
Hi all,
How can I get a DG834GT router working with AOL. I don't believe this
"AOL don't support it" - AFAIK the router has a username and password
and you must be able to get it to work.
We have over 50 users who we provide ADSL with Zen Internet, but this
one user has his own AOL account so I offered to try and get him
working with that (so his family can use the home PC and he can use
his...

| | Virgin broadband - false claims on TV by
Mal
Virgin are currently running TV adverts which are false and misleading.
They claim that they offer UNLIMITED use. This is not correct as they only
allow a specified amount of data per month. This includes everything, from
data sent and received, also all acknowledgements, page refreshes, email and
news. It also includes unsolicited traffic, port scanning and pings.
So once again, the...
