I bought a keyfob wifi detector today to check which areas have a good
signal before assuming I can surf outside from car or train wherever I
choose. Press the button and it gives 1 to 4 green lights depending on
signal strength and a red one for none.
Strange how out of the six or so tunnels taken by my train all but one

| | Cannot see Workgroup PC's through new router by
Yvonne
Hi,
When my Netgear DG814 died last week, I replaced it with a DG834. I got
it set up and it connects to the Internet just fine. However, I can no
longer see any of the other 3 PC's in the Workgroup. This means I
cannot share the printer nor acccess the shared folder we have.
I spoke to Netgear Support who said "No problem, just go into the
router settings and tick the box for "Disable Port...

Martin
Apologies that this is slightly off topic, but I want to re-use my
colleague's BT Pay-as-you-go account that's expired from not being used.
Does anyone know how to reactivate an existing dial-up user id.? What's
happening at the moment is that BT allows us to connect but won't transmit
and traffic.
I want him to use it because he's having difficulties with his ADSL service
and as his...

Uswitch: Lists free Sky Broadband as best option for postcode, then Sky

My friend went to uswitch.com to find the best value broadband for her
area. One of the options given for her postcode was the free broadband
from Sky available to Sky subscribers. So, following the advice of
uswitch my girlfriend signed up for Sky's minimum package. Sky...

Travec the Dacian
OK I've already read the posts that say AOL is getting out of the UK
Broadband market but, despite these rumours they are still promoting
their broadband packages. I presume they are doing this so they can
sell their business to another ISP.
I'm in a quandry. Because I Live in a remote area I only have the
choice of BT or AOL. I am currently with BT but I have found I can
get unilmited access...

Would this be because you want to restrict the access level this user

If so, this isn't a good way to do it. Anyone with reasonable computer

ColinK
Hi
My daughter flatmate uses her Linksys modem connected via rj11 cable.
She has kindly offered to share her broadband with my daugther and
other flatmates.
Unfortunately she does not know her WEP key and cannot log in to Admin
to set new wep key, Admin and Admin do not work, presumably she has
changed it at some time.

| | Help with BT BB Please.... by
Andy Harris
Hi folks
BT Broadband was fine till their router packed up so I brought a
Netgear. Although I can get this to connect 2.272mb/s I can't get to
any web sites. I can however connect to a neighbours wireless BB, (not
sure which isp they are on) and get web sites fine.
Is there something different about BT BB that I'm missing... like will
it only work with their router? Or their ghastly btyahoo...

Get a proper ISP.
Then they might just answer the phone when you call them.

| | V21 Changes T&Cs to include £70 Termination fee? by
Toaster
The V21 website now sports Biscit T&C's in place of the
previous V21 terms. Under 6 Term and Termination
it includes something about a £70 termination fee and £35
for a migration code. Was Previously £30.
I believe the old terms used to include a clause allowing
them to amend the terms with either 7 or 14 days
notice by posting the amended terms on their...

I realise I'll get no sympathy !
But I migrated to Talktalk £10 per month service at the beginning of the

I had been on a 512k offering with Talktalk for over a year without any
problem (except the news server kept dying).
Now my voip phone can't connect to sipgate server anymore, and I can't
