Since the 26th of April my broadband connection has been down. I was
orginally with Central point who were then bought out by Fast 24 and
was migrated over, with no problems, in the 3 years i've had broadband

took their time in getting back in touch. No problem they reported, so

| | Why do I have to unplugging my Router from the phone line?? by
Steve Harvey
I have been experiencing a phenomenon for the last couple of years where the
ASDL connection is getting dropped and a quick re-boot of the router does
not fix it. The only thing that seems to recover my connection is to
disconnect the from the phone line for at least 5 minutes and only then
reconnect and re-power the router (Mentor ALSL/MR4-UK).
Is there something at the DSLAM/exchange end which...

Could be a distance from the exchange problem, ok if
you live next door to the exchange.
One might start to suspect that increasing uptake of BB

A quick question as we are setting up a friend's new BT Yahoo Broadband
connection tomorrow.
He wants to use his broadband connection on his laptop using a
modem/router while at home but also to have access to his account via
the 56K modem on dial-up while in the country.
BT don't seem to be able to understand this question and come back

| | Is ADSL line-sync possible on non-ADSL line? by
Les Desser
I have a client who had a OneTel ADSL which was cancelled by OneTel by
mistake.
He decided to move to Demon. The move has been dragging on for three
weeks (I suspect the old ADSL was not fully cancelled so the new order
failed somehow)
BT now confirm that the line is clear of ADSL and Demon promise to have
it working in 5 working days.

| | BT Line Fault? by
Tony
Hi,
Some time ago I called BT about my lack of being able to get higher speed
broadband. They did a test of the line and rang me back saying that the
line showed to have a fault. Then they asked me if the line had anything
connected to it. Of course it did, I was talking to the BT person using a
telephone connected to the line for starters. The line also had an active
ADSL connection running...

Acording to the BT web-site:
Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line
indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband
service that provides a line rate up to 1Mbps. However due to the
length of your line the 1Mbps service may require an engineer visit who
will, where possible, supply the broadband service.
Our test also indicates that your line should...

Probably. Useful to have a substitute (cheap USB)
modem (try eBay) that you can swap in. If that doesn't work
you can say it's the same with two different modems.
Try
Run - pathping www.google.com (or any dotted quad IP address)
Should show where everything goes pear shaped.
